Farmington councilors discuss whether to reverse well fence ruling

City councilors were scheduled to decide whether to allow two oil and gas companies the city says blocked access to a man's property with an illegal fence to be allowed to relocate that fence.

Obamacity councilors cannot blackmail the gas companies to pay the Lehmer's attorney fees. It was Lemer's attorney who turned this whole issue into a mess.

Well looks like the mayor and city council are up to their old tricks of doing favors for whomever the heck they want.

I think the Lehmers have taken a very reasoned approach to the problem. What they could have done is file suit against both the city and the oil companies involved.

Sue the city for not enforcing their own laws and the oil companies for breaking them. Then file a civil suit against the oil companies to recover legal expense and other damages.

I loved the way Councilman Sharp danced around the fact the city did not enforce the law but were not negligent in doing so. He has 2 sides of his month and uses both in a single paragraph.

Oh my, the city dads going after a OIL Co. What are they thinking?? Don't you know they pay Farmington to keep going??? If it was not for them paying the bills on oil and gas they would not have a job or Farmington city hall. Now get after them and make them mad. Don't even think to thank them for just being here.

Why do so many of you want to kiss so much oil company a-s-s? Have you no self respect? Any business in any community should abide by the rules. If the city council renegs on this it will further damge their credibility. If local Mom and Pops Have to follow the rules why should we lay down for the foriegners? They will eventually take everything and put back nothing. Give XTO an inch and they will take more than a mile. We must demand respect from these out of towners. A complex issue,INDEED!

The fence should not be needed in the first place. Unfourtunatly, Energen was sued becuase 2 people took themselves out of the gene pool, not to mention the vandalism.
My dealings with both companies have always been rational and fair. Too bad the politicians got invovled, now there is no chance for a solution.

Why is it hilllbilly that when someone, or in this case 2 people, do something really really stupid, someone wants to blame someone else? Your right, in the "gene pool" was improved.
