Stupid idea. Stupid. No one cares about the Wolves, especially people in St. Paul. And why wreck the atmosphere of The X? It's meant for hockey and accommodates concerts. Leave it at that. These multi-use venues wear out quicker, cost more money, and lose their unique character. Stupid idea, Chris...especially considering the Wolves will most likely be contracted in the next five years.

Where ever they build it , it neeeds to be built with 100% Minnesota people's jobs. No one from out of state from top to bottom would be hired to work on the site, starting with the architects to the scalpers. Put that in all contracts of contractors, subs, truck drivers , venders and any "Wally" want to be's.

Thank you pioneer press for keeping your comment section relatively open for people's comments. The paper across the river has implemented a review process and it delays and breaks up the discourse. Nobody is forced to read these and although the comments are sometimes crude I feel the benefits outweigh the vulgarity that is sometimes displayed. Left or right- open comment sections are a very good thing. Thank you.

WTF!!

Where did this come from?

I'm guessing a mayor from one of the Twin Cities called the mayor of the other Twin Cities and said "got a problem here. Can you help me out?"

I do like how he worked in the forgiveness of the X loans

Do we need more losers in St Paul? I thought the Mayor and city council were enough.

What is with throwing libraries into this? The Ramsey County library system is a black hole any mention should kill the idea. They keep building newer bigger and more expensive libraries every year.

Chris Coleman has never seen a tax he didn't like. Of course, he is more objective if the tax doesn't benefit St. Paul...

This is so silly. He's just going to take the T-Wolves from Xcel. Does RT know that?

No one wants your plan Chris. No one asked for it. No one cares. This looks like the geeky kid asking the cheerleader to prom.

So St. Paul gets the Wolves since no one cares about the Wolves anymore...and downtown gets the Saints, because there isn't enough gentrification to go around in lowertown yet.

I think many in Minneapolis wouldn't mind losing the T-wolves. They don't pay rent at Target Center. The revenue from Target Center can't even cover its debt service obligations. I'm sure some in Minneapolis would love to see it redeveloped. If the Wolves were to come to the X, they better pay rent like the Wild do.

Screw the T wolves, screw a new stadium in Minneapolis, and screw Chris Coleman. If we really have to pay for another stadium, put it in Arden Hills so we can at least do some decent tailgating instead the crap that passes for tailgating in alley parking lots

OK - So Mayor Coleman thinks it's a great idea for everyone in the state to pay for a project that goes in his city, but he is opposed to residents of Saint Paul paying for a project that is in his County but not his city. I think the Arden Hills site is a great site, provides opportunities for football amenenties that will never be available in either city and it's time for Rybek and Coleman to show some support for something other than in their cities. Otherswise all of you suburban and outstate representatives need to start saying NO to projects in Minneapolis and Saint Paul!

make it a $100,000 tax on anybody running for office and toss in a horseshoe pit in the lobby of the St. Paul hotel, and you got a deal!
