Those guys willing to take less are likely still living at home with ma and pa,not paying a mortgage or sending kids to school daycare of post secondary..Taxes are up, price of cars, insurance, cost of living is up They say interest rates.. everything is going up if our wage do not keep time, we might as well be living on EI ..try it for a while find a job make the $179. Allowed plus your EI $439a week thatís what you'll clear after taxes/CPP/EI/union dues and such .on a mid job class..do the math! Less if you give up shift allowance/and OT. I'm not willing to work in a factory for less than I was getting before the lay-offs and lock out.And I'm sure as hell not being off work for months with-out some gain.. If I'm going to work for peanut I'm joining the circus.

<quoted text>I am presently working in hamilton works and I think you have it all wrong all the senior guys may be preparing for the worst but all the guys with very little service are willing to take what ever is thrown at them,I think that's absolutely f.ckin stupid of them to say that because you know that it filters to the assholes up top. Also there are young guys who work on the coating side and said to management that they would give up their lunches and also give up their overtime for the downturns just to stay on 8 hour shifts that's f.ckin what I call put your tail between your legs and get screwed like a bunch of chicken shits. Also the guys who are back there on contract which is more than 60% of them are getting $27.50 hour to work no benefits, vacation, seniority etc, also if they train somebody they get $33.50 hour to do so.That's not that bad the problem is the slightest thing there gone, they were hired by labour aide. The problem with coming back on contract is some of the guys that were bag lickers were brought back so they could rat guys out like they did before.I'd rather get f.ckin fired before ratting out a fellow brother.Anyway the steel is coming from granite city and great lakes works and looks like shit it's full of cracked edges, sawtooth etc.The reason why coating is starting up but not until middle of jan is because honda said they want it coated in canada and also like the way lake erie runs coils thru the strip mill because the american facilities are old.Honda said if they dont move it back to canada they were pulling the buisness and going to dofasco to buy it.Hopefully things work out for you guys and start earning paychecks again in 2010 also remember concessions are not the answers because it never stops they would love us to work for nothing.
Thanks borat hamilton works for the information. Its all senior guys that I know that still work there...and they are the ones getting ready for the worst.I can not believe that these Junior service guys are so willing to give up all the gains we made and all the ones our fathers made to work for less at US Steal. They can say all that now because they where all off for months but I wonder if they will still like it 20 years down the road when they have no lunch break no vacation...shift premiums etc working for these dick heads.I think we should be getting more not less...
USS can kiss my a**.Sorry about the rant but I hate these guys.
Cheers and lets stay strong.

Hi Vandit just looked at the docket for court cases and this is the only case that shows up all year, right to the end of 2010.I am assuming this is Hitler steels challenge as to the constitutionality of the Canada investment act which they claim is unfair under the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms as it denies them peaceful occupation of their property.I had always been under the impression that we were going to court for their breech of contract under the Canada investment act or does the court have to rule on this fluff that they have thrown out first? If that is the case we are gonna be in court forever these guys are very adept at playing in court for a long time. Anyone know any more about this please post. When does Lakeside get a crack at them? Sure like to see that

8782 and Lakeside Steel won intervener status in the penalty phase of the Federal Governments lawsuit over the Investment Canards act violations. If memory serves me correctly we did not gain official status in the first part of the suit which involves the actual process of determining if Useless Steal did violate the secret agreement they entered into with the Feds.

The court dates upcoming deal with what should be private and public in regards to the secret agreement and how releasing information into the public domain affects the ability of Useless Steal to compete fairly in Canada (nice joke there) and also deals with the Charter Challenge they brought forth.

I believe our lawsuit over our members lost wages (the $43+ one) is dove tailed onto that.

That's a good site....thanks for the info. The scrary paragraph is where it says that US Steal could prolong this for a very long time if they keep arguing that The Charter of Rights and Freedoms has been violated. That means that it might go to the Supreme Court. This may be a long haul boys.

Yeah, it sure is nice to see a PM and an MP fighting for the people they represent. We need to get that 1fuckin useless bitch Diane Finley of her ass and start doing something for us. Afterall, she is the MP of the area most affected by these 1pricks. Instead, I'm sure her and her husband have unlimited front row tickets to the Olympics. I hope she is voted out next time around...she is below useless!!

I sure agree with you there LEWser, Finlay is more than useless she has done dick all with the Indians in Caledonia and dick all for us. Harper likes her though; the top of her head is good for holding his beer while her fat 1fuck senate appointee husband watches with his limp noodle in his hand

This is just my opinion of a possibility...but if LEW is not up and running by spring,I think Us Steel assholes will probably hold of for combining hamilton and lake contacts together. Then in summer we will all be working or Canadian operations will all be out.Yes we have some newbies in Hamilton but I know most of us senior guys will never give in to being screwed out of what we worked for.Once you give in to concessions there will be no turning back!!! I would not take concessions when I work in one of the filthiest environments there is.Remember where we work..and you young guys be careful or your career at "Asshole Steel" will be underpaid throughout
