I work at the Lake, just need to comment on our contract. I was out for 13 months and I know how it feels on the line. It sucks. All I wanted was to get back to work with a fair contract and I was not going to vote for some POS contract just to have a job. It was a lot of long, cold frustrating days with no action from US Steel. I f-ing hate those bastards.

Our contract: We did not lose indexing on our pensions. It's in writing, look it up or call the 8782 office and they will tell you straight. A lot of guys say, look what the Lake got, that's what we'll get. What we got includes indexing.

We did take the RRSP pension for the new guys, different strokes for different folks. Nobody lost anything wage-wise and the new guys love the RRSP thing.

Maybe some good news, uur strip mill is shutting down for 5 days of maintenance, then it's going to run full out. Our order books are full, steel prices are expected to go over $1000/ton. Nothing like high steel prices to get a plant open :)

I hope you guys get what you're asking for.

rolf needs to realize he will have to give up something to keep indexing which we did at the lake. We took the new pension plan and I do believe when new hires retire they have no benefits. But they know this when they get hired.

The longer that this goes on it becomes more and more likely that the plant will never reopen ( unless someone offers US Steel the right price for the plant).

...It is up to US Steel to offer us a Good Contract and for them to also live up to there Commitment to the Canadian Government...and then and only then will it reopen...it truly is up to US Steel!

If the strip mill runs full out they'll have to pay out some profit sharing down the road. They will avaoid that at all costs. Furthermore, where will the slabs come from to roll full out? They would have to stop sending slabs to their competitors and sister plants. They dont have to capability to produce enough slab to go full out just for their own customers.

This will end when the Membership wants it to end.

If you want it to end get to a Membership Meeting, pass a motion and it will be the beginning of the end.

Until then you support Rolph.

So you have 2 choices, shut up or get to a meeting
