Acromegaly - A chronic disease of adults marked by enlargement of the bones of the extremities, face, and jaw that is caused by overactivity of the pituitary gland.
Acromegaly - enlargement of bones of hands and feet and face; often accompanied by headache and muscle pain and emotional disturbances; caused by overproduction of growth hormone by the anterior pituitary gland (due to a tumor)
Acromegaly - a chronic disease characterized by enlargement of the bones of the head, the soft parts of the feet and hands, and sometimes other structures, due to excessive secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland. Acromegaly is also called giantism.

André "The Giant" Roussimoff (May 19, 1946 – January 27, 1993), best known as André the Giant, was a French professional wrestler and actor. "The Official Site of André the Giant" claims he was 7' 4". His great size was a result of a condition known as acromegaly or giantism, and led to him being dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the World."
Now let's get back to wrestling news instead of debating whether or not this is a disease.

Although you were trying to prove me wrong you actually proved my point, sorta! Giantism wears down the heart but so does obesity, but would you consider obesity a disease? No, of course not. But why is being obesity 'normal' and not giant? Because obesity is everywhere and it's a rare instance to see a 'giant'? It's all bullshit! You might be saying to yourself, well the difference is that people aren't born obese. Did you know that in a way they are, the part of the brain that controls appetite is wired differently in most people which can basically make them obese! Anymore questions or do I have to continue proving my damn point?

Anymore questions or do I have to continue proving my damn point? Obesity is a tribute to many things. Natural metablosim, genes, how active you are, eating habits, etc. We aren't debating obesity is common in our society. But your trying to claim a disease doesn't exist because it had a formerly "slang" nickname. All words have to start somewhere, sometimes calls it something, after it becomes common, it becomes socially and grammatically acceptable in the English language. Andre "The Giant" had "Giantism"...The Big show had a surgery to prevent the risks of "Giantism". Either way, this is a stupid debate and has nothing to do with what this thread was originally intended, which was to provide up-to-date info on wrestling, and has nothing to do with Steiner using foreign substances to have a ridiculous amount of muscle mass that one cannot naturally obtain.

Anymore questions or do I have to continue proving my damn point? Although Im not a big person, just 6 ft and 180lbs. I was diagnosed with an enlarged heart when I was about 5 or 6. I did sports anyhow. When I was 40 I had a massive heart attack had bi-pass surgury, which has helped kept me alive for the last 18 years. Since then Ive had 2- angioplastys and last year I had another heartaccack and they put a pacemaker-defibulater in me at St. Judes. I still play golf and swim, walk my dogs and 2 weeks ago I flew to Brisbane to help take care my grandchildren because my daughter got hurt. Point Im making is all these abnormalities happen to millions of people. You can be overcome by it, or just shrug it off, live as best you can and go on with your life. I sold my storew after the last surgury to give me time with my wife, daughters, and grandchildren. You learn to live with it. Its not all bad though, because after 58 years, I have learned to appreciate what I do have going for me!!!!!!!!!!

Obesity is just an excess of fat. Giantism is excessive secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland.
You are comparing apples to oranges. Being fat is NOT the same as having a problem with your pituitary gland. One is a disease and the other isn't. Can you guess which one is?
I don't know what you refuse to see the point. Andrea had a disease. Big Show had the same disease. His was corrected by surgery. Andrea did not have the same medical relief and the end result was death.

I'm not saying that it's not a real disease because it had a "slang" nickname, I'm saying it's not a real disease because it doesn't have all the characteristics to be considered one. All the traits that qualify all other diseases to be considered what it is, is because of how it can be received and given to others. Are you telling me if someone with giantism gets a cut, and their blood enters my bloodstream I'd get the same disease as them? Or if they breathe on me I'll get giantism? Give me a break! About Steiners muscles, like I said before taking steroids doesn't make anyone a better wrestler. It just makes them bigger, if they wanna' take it then what's wrong with that? It's their decision to take it in the first place!

TNA called and invited Diazeed Haze to do the Impact show that aired May 1. She call Ring of Honor to make sure that it was OK. Haze is not under contract to ROH, and booker Gabe Sapolsky tole her she could do whatever she wanted. Haze has not signed a contract with TNA and it is not known if she will be offered one. Haze is currently involved in a long-tery storyline with Delirious in ROH that's supposed to last through at least the summer.

Compare it to another TRUE disease that can be carried and given to someone else. Do any of you have your own mind or do you let other people think for you?

It was Jeff Jarrett's idea to run the Daizee Haze vs Cheerleader Melissa match on the 5/1 Impact. When they were putting together the show, they had an open spot, and he decided to throw them out there because the ladies would likely help with the ratings. He turned out to be right as the match drew a 1.10 quarter hour rating. O.1 higher than the main event.

Shimmer promoter Dave Prazak, who posts on several wrestling message boards promoting the organization, made a post on Payton Banks' status with TNA after someone asked about her. Prezak wrote: "She hasn't been let go, but isn't booked for the current tapings". Banks hasn't been used since the Lockdown pay-per-view, and there were some reports going around noting that she appeared to be through with the company. Banks was not under contract to TNA, instead working on a nightly basis. Banks often appears as "Rain" at the SHIMMER shows.

Cheerleader Melissa's appearance on impact may have been a one-time thing. At the moment there is no long-term storyline as to why she was herself instead of Raisha Saaed. Unlike the deal with Shelly, "Salinas" Martinez, there is no plan for Saaed to reveal herself as Melissa. Melissa vs. Haze was pretty much put out on television because they had an open spot on the show and another women's match would likely give a boost to the ratings.

It causes enlargement of the head, hands, feet and other areas of the body. Not all diseases can be carried and given to someone else. Cancer is a TRUE disease but cannot be caught by another person. Your argument has NO validity. I can see that you only come on here to disagree with all of us. You seem to be a very unhappy person so I will not continue a childish argument. Yes, Cancer IS a disease. LOOK IT UP!

Is TAMMY SYTCH coming to TNA?! Or rather, TNA was thinking about bringing in Tammy Sytch. There has been talk within TNA about using Sytch in a major role, but a few weeks ago, a few of their wrestlers did a wrestling convention with her, and came back with a negative report on the blonde bombshell. Due to the report on her, Sytch is no longer under consideration from TNA. See pictures of Tammy here. http://www.pwpix.net/superstars/t/tammysytch/...

"WRONG! Certain viruses can be caught through sex that lead to Cancer. See what all that reading brought you?"
Prove it. Don't just make blanket statements that can't be proved. Offer some facts.
You seem to have a superior attitude toward everyone else on this forum. I will put my master's degree up against ANYONE from the Bronx.
I went all the way back to July of 2007 when you joined. You have NEVER agreed with anything that anyone else has said. You never have a kind word for anyone even though I have found a lot of nice people on this forum.
Your only reason for coming here is to argue with others.
Your command of the English language is so limited that you always have to lace comments with profanity.
You act as though you are very young and probably are. I believe that your orignal name was Superkick KO so your comments speak for themselves.
Again, offer some facts about your virus/Cancer theory. I'll be waiting. Somehow I don't think that you will since you also stated that Giantism wasn't a disease. Talk about stupid! Your ignorance knows no boundaries.
