I don't see how you can compare these two issues...apples and oranges people, or maybe bananas and stones?

One question, how many drug addicts started by smoking pot?...or rather, how many drug addicts out there have never smoked pot?

They're related because they have to do with personal liberty, and actually marijuana PROHIBITION is the REAL "gateway drug" because those who want to procure pot must go through clandestine dealers who often sell other drugs.

Same goes for the (alleged) link between marijauna use and supposed personality changes (e.g. "New Age" attitudes like vegetarianism, pacifism, etc.): These TOO are due to ASSOCIATION with like folks and NOT the 'intrinsic' nature of even long-term marijuana use.

Let them buy it from the tobacconist or liquor store located next to the gun store and they WON'T evolve into the kind of freak-a-zoids from Andromeda depicted in the Jennifer Anniston screwball comedy "Wanderlust" !!!

Very true... I would imagine most drug addicts started smoking cigarettes first. Risk taking behaviors start before that in all forms.
