Walmart 4 - 1 Unloaders

Anyone else an unloader? Boy, I sure do love it. Our entire crew consists of 5 people, soon to be 4. And no, I don't mean for one day, I mean everyone who works as an unloader at this Walmart. There are only 5 of us.

Anyone else just love working at Walmart? I'm loving it so much, I think I may have to quit before I get too attached.

I personally like it even though I hate my current position within the store. We just let go two temps that were on the truck crew so now we are stuck rotating people from the floor to help unload the truck every night. On any given night the crew consist of 4 unloaders on the supervisor day off or 3-4 when he is on the clock.

we went through a spell like that - a few good ones quit and a few bad ones didn't stick and we got down to 4 or 5 for a while. which I didn't mind except that they still expected you to do the work of a full crew. Bringing associates from the floor doesn't really help because (a) they drag their feet since they don't want to actually be working; and (b) they tend to get things wrong (poor stacking, stuff on the wrong spot, etc) which ends up costing time and effort anyway.

Plus, I got a 40 cent raise when I transferred and there's WAY more difference in the amount of work than 40 cents pays for.

Still, it's not the work I mind so much as the curious decision making that gets me. i'm not the sort of person who's content to do my part right while other things are being screwed up around me. It stresses me.

I was an unloader for 3.5 years; back then, it was common to have three trucks every other night, and at least two trucks on average. We had a good sized crew (5-7), but we were never allowed to leave at 1am. We always had to be dismissed by over night mgmnt....AFTER we had basically done most of their work. Not unusual to be stuck there til after 3am.

I had to literally sneak out to get my dept. transfer. Unloading was truly the worst job I've ever had.
