Winn Dixie has to be the WORST grocery store in the USA. I would go to 7-11 for my shopping before I would go to Winn Dixie!

I sure hope Winn-Dixie pulls it off, as a monolopy by Publix and Wal-Mart would not be good---AND, I love their BUY ONE AND GET TWO FREE! Publix has started imitating them, as you can see with their buy one and get one free. They never did it until Winn-Dixie did.

Winn-Dixie customers are the low end of the market. No room for them and Wal Mart

uh...buy one get one free is one of the most common sale practices today. publix has done buy one get one free for as long as i can remember...where have you been? and besides, i agree with kimo about winn-dixie, it is the worst store to go grocery shopping. the last time i set foot in a winn-dixie i thought i would catch something through my shoes it was so dirty.

It is sad to see what Winn Dixie is going through, I do remember when Winn Dixie use to truly care about the customer and the empolyees who worked in the stores. But, over the years Winn Dixie like many business in corporate America began care less and less about their customers not to mention the employees who are the front line to serving the customers. They began giving out unGodly bonuses to their pencil pushing upper management in their corporate head offices. Mean while, they worked the store employees twice as hard as they cut the shifts and manpower so they could try to put another dollar towards another GOLDEN corporate retirement packages for Upper Upper management. I will say if Winn Dixie wanted to learn something about making a profit they would learn that customer services does not mean having one person run a produce department and expect him to unload a frozen food truck, dairy truck, a grocery truck, not to mention expect him to maintain his produce and keep it fresh on a busy Saturday. For example...I mean do you honestly think if Walt Disney World ran their parks like Winn Dixie ran their stores if Walt Disney World would be the Amusement Park Giant it is today...Think about it.

I live next to a brand new "botique" Winn Dixie. I was expecting this one to be different than the others. It only took one month for the funky smell of rotting meat that is so indicative of Winn Dixie to start eminating through the store.

Anyone who shops at Winn Dixie should understand why they are going out of business. They have the worst management on the planet and their stores are poorly stocked. Most of the time their produce is old and half the time their freezers are broken. Get rid of them and replace them with Publix.

And you're so high class? Where someone shops does not determine their place in society. Get a life!!

My father worked for WD since he was 11 years old and retired after 45 years. His stock is worthless. He was in upper management. He didn't retire with a Golden retirement package. They are getting better than what they were. The Controller out of Pompano ran it into the ground. No customer service means no customers. WD had cashier training at one time. We were told to smile and thank the customer. The cashier is the one person that can make a difference. Is anyone screening the new employee's? I like the new self checkout. It is a shame so many people that work for WD will never see a dime of their hard work.

WD is poorly stocked because they owe money to the suppliers and the suppliers aren't going to keep suppling if they don't get paid.
How can you hope that WD goes bankrupt? Do you understand how many people would be out of work just in So. Fla. Shame on you!

I worked there in high school back in the late 1970s. I worked like a dog and the managers were worked like dogs. The Davis family (woners) were greedy. Today the service there and at Publix sucks. A bunch of lazy Haitians with a bad attitude. Target is cheaper for a lot of food items and the service is good. No Haitians. I am not a bigot. The African-Americans working at Target are almost always hard working and friendly.

Both my parents retired from WD after many years of hard work and when my Mom sold her stocks they were worth close to nothing. I too was a 'trained' cashier in the 70's. You couldn't have said it better.

Granted when we worked there we did work hard, but I started shopping at WD again because the buy one get ones on meat and other items make my grocery shopping trip a little easier on my wallet.

You are correct and it easy to tell you still work at WD. I put in my 15 years and ran out the door. One of the problems is the current people at the top never put in thier time with WD to know the problems. WD is now hiring former employee from Albertsons to run their stores - President down to the store managers. Mr Walters retired and the rest of the VP's saw this was a good time to get out also and sell thier stock before the bottom fell out. That was the beginning of the down fall when their were replaced by Big Head Uppers who started to running WD into the toilet. Cutting Customer Service and putting Bonus money in their pockets.

Winn Dixie, could be better. We all know this. But lets also not forget that the snottiest of all supermarket chains, Publix, is utilizing this to their advantage and taking over the market. You know what too...I walked into a publix this weekend to get some fruit and it was all rotten. Strawberry molded. Peaches and Plums soft and rotten. Fruit flies all over the place. I agree with Fred from Ft. lauderdale...Target has gotten my money and my vote.
