Whole Foods claims that the Novato store will have 70 percent more parking spaces than other Whole Foods stores ? How many does Novato have ? That is important because if the Millworks ever rents out any of those condoboxes, that will take away parking from Whole Foods. We would like to see specific numbers, like how many apartments are actually rented out, how many parking spaces dedicated to the apartment building, and how many are dedicated to shoppers at Whole Foods ? And what ever happened to the freight trains that were supposed to be running in November of last year ?
Those puppies up in Novato are being cagey about their numbers. Cut loose with the numbers Novato, otherwise your press releases will not be taken with any merit.

I'm still waiting for the city to plant trees in every other parking spot in the underground garage.

Warning, Warning!!

Whole Foods is now selling food from China. The 365 brand has many products that are produced in China. Many of these items are labeled "Organic" yet are still from China. Most disturbing is that the China food is at the same price as they have always had.

if you trust China, go ahead and eat the food. If you know better not to trust China, then complain to the store manager or boycott the store all together.

Wow Some of the people who post on here have no brains. It's simple folks, If you don't like whole foods don't shop there. What part of that don't you understand. I personally don't care if everything they sell comes from China as it is my money i am spending and not yours. I may just hire Buddy Boy to pick me up and take me there, pay him to wait and then return to my house with some great food that I now can buy in my home town. I owe I owe so off to work i go. See Ya !! Bye Bye !!

The dirt lot that Whole Foods has leased for employee parking is ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. This lot is currently under the control of Signature properties (the developer of the Whole Foods/Millworks project)so it was easy to procure this space. Come October 2010 however this dirt lot will be handed to the SMART train crew who have rights over it. WHAT HAPPENS THEN SHOULD WHOLE FOODS NOT BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE A LEASE FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES PARKING NEEDS?? EVEN IF THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL WHAT HAPPENS ONCE THIS SMART BOONDOGGLE COMES TO FRUITITION??!! Whole Foods employs 150 people and each shift requires approximately 50 employees. WHere are these people going to park??! There is currently a considerable parking pproblem already in downtown Novato. The city has to address this concern.

Let's all celebrate Earth Day by rushing to the new Whole Foods and buying some organic food that has been grown and processed in China...

We all know the quality of the products that come from there. Read the back fo the labels folks. The Whole Foods frozen "organics" often come from China or Mexico. The are "certified" by corrupt local bribe takers or unknowns.

Want lead or melamine with that? How about some contaminated drywall with your cheese? W.F. meanwhile spends lots of money on printing posters screaming
"We're organic!"
and loudly proclaiming that
"We source from all the world~and WTF is wrong with you for questioning that?"

If you want organic, shop at the Good Earth in Fairfax, or other small independent markets that buy from right here in Marin and Sonoma, like Mill Valley Market.

Trader Joe's used to buy Chinacrap, but there was so much pressure put on them tht they forswore it. Whole Foods refuses to listen or be pressured so vote with your wallets and boycott them.

Almost never shop in Old Town. Parking is terrible! Those trees on main street are a problem. Can parking tickets be issued to them! I will still shop at Harvest Market--greatest butcher shop ever. Yes, and also the Discount Supermarket. I do like Whole Foods, however the traffic and parking are enough to keep me from shopping there. Lots a luck!

More butt kissing from city government for this project. How many fees did we waiver or discount to get them here?
Is the city to be reimbursed for all the extra police time?
As a homeowner see how many breaks you get when you apply for a building permit.

As an alternative to Whole Foods, try the new independently owned Paradise Foods in Ignacio. Independently owned, great meat and deli departments, great produce, and courteous staff. A really wonderful store!

Here's another reminder for you:

This is based on my own experience:

When you go to Whole Foods, check out the organic chopped frozen spinach in the freezer section.

You'll be surprised to see the country of origin: CHINA.

So much for supporting local, even DOMESTIC, suppliers. AND so much for reducing the carbon footprint. Imagine the amount of fuel and energy it took to get that frozen spinach from China to Novato! But hey, it's only $1.99 a bag.*Barf*

I'm sad that Whole Foods has become one of very few options for health food stores in Marin. We voted with our wallets and this is what we got. It's our own fault really.

Wow, Marin can find every possible angle to beeaatch and moan. Here is a brand new frigging business in Old Town Novato that will keep more Novato shoppers in Novato and provide a few new jobs. Jeez, chill the bleep out.

You're wrong, and I'm not being a Chicken Little here. Last week I picked up a bag of spinach and the country of origin was China. This is no lie and I was totally shocked. It makes Trader Joe's frozen spinach from Mexico seem more appealing. I cook for my family so I always check labels. Unfortunately, the best option for most organic stuff is Safeway's O Organics. I have yet to run across a "Product of China" label and typically run across "Product of USA" labels.

There is no comparison between Whole Foods and the Good Earth for produce you can trust to be locally grown and pesticide-free. Or the Farmers' markets. Or United. Or grow your own vegetables. Whole Foods in SR has a great deli and salad bar, even though the produce they use there is probably not organic (you will never get a straight answer about this). All the local, independent SR bakeries have left town because they could not make a go of it though there are a few bagel shops still extant. No matter what you think about the food, the bottom line is that this chain has moved into our county and made it difficult on the small businesses. Support your local growers or someday they may not exist!!!

I have been looking forward to seeing the freight trains too. I believe that November of last year was when the work on the tracks was done so those trains were just the maintanence of way equipement. They worked along HWY37 for a few months. The actual freight service was supposed to start in March. I beleive that they are still waiting for the final track inspections from the government before they can resume opperations.
