Kids' Dress-Up Day Draws Christian Ire

“It's different every year. They basically present the ideas, and they vote on what they would like from Monday through Friday”

An elementary-school event in which kids were encouraged to dress as members of the opposite gender drew the ire of a Christian radio group, whose angry broadcast prompted outraged calls to the district office.

Students at Pineview Elementary in Reedsburg had been dressing in costume all last week as part of an annual school tradition called Wacky Week. On Friday, students were encouraged to dress either as senior citizens or as members of the opposite sex.

A local resident informed the Voice of Christian Youth America on Friday. The Milwaukee-based radio network responded by interrupting its morning programming for a special broadcast that aired on nine radio stations throughout Wisconsin. The broadcast criticized the dress-up day and accused the district of promoting alternative lifestyles. Read more

How old are you now?
Allowing a male child/ female child dressing up as opposite sex, what part of stupid are you stuck on?
Think of the aftermath: made fun of and picked on.
Not a bright idea, in this age we live.

How old are you? You clearly read the wrong side of the smart book. The aftermath? What aftermath? I work in this school district, I attended this school district and my children attend this school district, THERE IS NO AFTERMATH. The kids vote on the day, they love it. They don't think of it as a close minded person like you. If you don't want to dress up, then you don't dress up. If you do, then you do. It's a CHOICE and it is a fun day for the kids. You are the aftermath.

You know the longer I live in this state I feel as though I am the only gay guy around here, First of all we had this in my school to, I didn't dress up but I still turned out gay if that what your worried about, secondly none of the kids are going to pick on the others (THEY ARE IN ELEMENTARY)and third what is wrong with alternative lifestyle ( not that I would ever wish my lifestyle on anyone) but still I don't believe that we need to keep acting like it is such a terrible thing, by doing this we have created boarder line personality disorder, Eric Hainstock has this disorder, like i said I never want my nephew to be gay and would do anything in my power to keep it from happening, but if he is I know that my family will be just like everyone else around here and he'll have to deal with a horrible life growing up in this area.
