Good thing Motorola is being eaten up by Google.
But for the fact the Motorola was purchased, it was certain to go UNDER, sooner than later.
If not for, what you call 'predatory gobbling' MANY companies would just dry up and die on the vine. When companies are left to just die, EVERYONE loses, from the owner of the building to the companies owed money, to the owners of the company, to the employees and the neighborhoods they live in.
Survival of the FITEST!!(Motorola was fast on the path to EXTINCTION):
"In Motorola, Google gets a cellphone pioneer that has struggled in recent years. Motorola hasn't produced a mass-market hit since it introduced the Razr cellphone in 2005. Once the No. 2 cellphone maker, Motorola now ranks eighth with 2 percent of the worldwide market share, according to Gartner."
