Why not? SM and ASM are the only ones that can write a To Do list, you think the ASM should leave all the SFL's off the list and just let them do whatever they want?

DUH..........YES they can and why you'd think they can't is beyond me. What do you think ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER means?!?!? ASM's basically run the stores now. You must be new.

No the shift lead is a leader . Nobody can tell a leader what to do! They lead the shift ! How can you lead while being a follower!

And LEADING means making sure the list THE ASM made is completed !!!!!!!!!! SFL's ARE NOT management!

Even though shift leads report to SM, SM wants to have ASM to write to do list to spend more time in RX. At least that is what is expected at my store.

And yet SFLs are still in charge when SM and ASM are not there. A big controversy if you ask me.

Define "in charge", because at my store I'm always here or the SM is always here. During the event we both have the same day off one of us will write out a To Do List for the entire day that we are gone.

The confusion is an error when the program started. ASM did not have authority. over the SFLs. This was fixed about six months after program implementation. It gets blurry with asmt.

It depends I have a very very talented hard working Sfl she does it all even makes better lists than my ASM all my employees rally her than the ASM she runs our cross training programs better than the ASM so for her I tell my ASM that he doesn't need to see over her . . . But she knows that when I'm gone he's in charge and to follow his lead if something fails she can fall back on him due and his direction, any other store yes I would let all my Sfl know that ASM is in charge and follow his lead

sfl's are managers
in my store they are
I don't let my asm tell them what to do
they're managers at the same level as the asm
same with my asmt
they are essentially supervisors along with the sfl's

see in the old days experience got you more responsibility and authority
that's how I run my store and my store has great teamwork
I can care less what the asm and asmt think they haven't bled for the company
so screw em my sfl is second in command she takes care of my expenses and asset protection.
she also does admin work sometimes even schedule

asm and the asmt are regulated to mop up work. unless I get interference from the DM or DPR. Like the other day I was told to give my asm the backroom and the OSA, I said that's BS but hey gotta follow the DPR

walgreens changing for the worst glad I'm retiring soon

SFL's are not managers.......it's right there in black and white in the job description..........if you don't know that then it's a good thing you're going to retire..........

If your SFL is so great then promote her, if she doesn't want the promotion then she probably doesn't want all the responsibility you're throwing her way either. Then again I'm sure your ASM appreciates getting paid ASM wages to do an SFL's job, sounds like they got it made lol.

sfl's are managers, and i'm tired of them getting screwed and them getting some young punk off the street who doesn't know crap about walgreens or came from a wallyworld or a quicktrip screw them. I had an sfl in line to become the asmt she goes to the interview and gets turned down cause she had a bad interview? Really? She had a tough interviewer I mean what is this company coming to
those smug a** asmts will get whats coming to them all you have to do to those young punks is frustrate them and treat them like an sfl and they start unwinding I know I just did it. its just like those youngins who are in corporate who determine our planos idiots have never been in a store and were hired straight out of college

as far as the asm nope he just pissed off went to the DM several times but the DM is going to back me either way. Sometimes I laugh at the fact that he goes to him like a little baby just waiting for my asm to snap so I only have to deal with the sfl's

I can do this cause I've had years in the company Walgreens is one of the few companies that treat there long time employees like trash. and I run a smooth operation I get my numbers I can't be touched. One of the few store managers left that also has a pharmacist certification

Personally I would love to be your ASM and get paid $22/HR to watch the SFL have more responsibilities than me. But I have a feeling you'd wind up like my last 'untouchable' SM, fired. Company wants people who can pass a behavioral interview and show that they can do the job. Personally the more requirements they can come up with to weed out the bad managers the better. No one should get promoted solely on what they have done, too many jerks are willing to step on toes and toot their own horns to get promoted, then their true colors come out and their employees are miserable because they can't manage. It's like giving a 90 year old a drivers license renewal, just because they've been driving for 74 years doesn't mean they can still do it.

Haha. It would be so easy to push your buttons, and I would do it daily till you were forced to retire from high blood pressure. But hey maybe you could claim workers comp and be set for life!
