The way I see it.
First Warning Sign
The removed most b-space from the sales floor. Note: Recently even end stands are not safe.
Second Warning Sign -
The constant push and pull of groups going to stores and then some years being controlled by corporate.
Third Warning Sign -
CL position created while DM duties taken over by CL, and new Dm duties do not equal the time and work level equal to past levels of duties.
Forth Warning Sign
Krono's - Scheduling can be monitored outside store in much more details.
Fifth Warning Sign-
Auto Ledger Reconciliation.
Sixth Warning Sign -
Remote Payroll Capability
This in my opinion is leading to eventually removal of store manager. Now how will they handle this? Could just let is slowly work it's way in as manager leave.
That above being said I have no idea if this is really is happening.
Many great points. The biggest warning sign for me is the moving of employee management to other store management - pharmacy staff to the RXM and everyone else to the EXA/ASM. They're setting it up to show that the store manager is not needed. And while many of you see this as a good thing (which in a perfect world it is), just think about how hard someone will work to run a store when their salary is significantly less than what a SM makes now.

obviously the butt kissers and the sm's "in the club" will be the ones promoted to cl. nothing to do with ones who work hard and have organized stockrooms and sales floor and great workforce.....and i can only imagine the pressure and things the cl's will want done that are above and beyond what they did at their stores when they were sm's...the cl's will sit in office of stores they are visiting as opposed to sitting in the office of the store they use to--and i say this cautiously--"manage" ...ya gotta agree??!!

I typed out a long response but decided to delete it. I got promoted because I'm talented, intelligent, and educated. I also know how to play the game. I'm a few years under 30 and just getting started. I started as an Rx tech in college, 5 years later I'm a CL. Maybe it's my positive attitude? Everyone in my district is happy for me. Go f yourselves.

Yep one guy on the internet says it happened to him. Must be true with in all cases then.... you are dumber than a box of rocks if you believe what you just said. There are many sms who are worthless, who sit in the office all day and take up space. There are many exas and assistants who are smart and good workers but who don't brown nose and they aren't going to get promoted. My old sm who is now a cl made it back to the pharmacy once every few months. He did not speak to any of the pharmacy staff either. But since he was a cl, by your logic he was a hard working smart person.

All of you airheads at your age think you are all talented, intelligent and well educated.....BS! Drinking for 4-6 years in college and getting a toilet paper degree does not an intelligent person make.

Politics are a much a part of your job at Walgreens as ANY company in the entire world. It is the way of the world. If you can't navigate your politics and get promoted, maybe you aren't as smart as you think you are.

If you are under the age of 25, I forgive you for not knowing this. Don't worry, you'll learn soon enough. If you are over 25, shame on you for being so naive.

Intelligence isn't just book smarts, or a good IQ, score from a test developed in the 1950's. There are such things as emotional intelligence, social intelligence, etc.

I believe rappers have a name for you guys. Think it's called "haters."

Or just own your business and pay your people fairly so that you don't have to put up with retarded CLs. I ran someone else's business for 8 years, and did not earn what I deserved so I left. Walgreens can't spot talent, just brown nosers.

Walgreens wages are in line with industry averages. If you want to pay someone $15/hour to hit buttons on a register and stock items on a shelf- knock yourself out. Most of the jobs at store level are ENTRY level jobs. At ENTRY level jobs you get ENTRY level wages. If you want to make more money- get promoted, go to college, get a skill, etc.

I don't buy into this economic theory that you guys have which believes that EVERY single job in the world MUST pay a minimum wage that puts people into what is currently the middle class salary range.

There will ALWAYS be people that underperform in their jobs and in their lives. You can't help everybody. Some people are just happy getting by with the minimum.

That is why you do not hire or keep the obvious underperformers....but in the interest of EQUALITY the govt seems to think we need to hire and keep these sub-humans around for some reason. Probably for the Democrats to keep getting their votes.

So are they getting rid of the store managers? I called a Rite Aid earlier and they are trying Multi Store Managers in certain areas, so I guess it may be possible.

Ok, so our multi store manager is the CL. That makes sense. So the current store managers might have the option to step down to ASM if they are not selected as the CL. Thanks

This has been in the works since before rewiring corporate. It's only a matter of time...
