Wow.more stores! Wth are they thinking? Wa$$on, Skinner, Wagner. Power hungry bastards don't have a clue what's going on at store levels. Nor do they care ..when will shareholders put the brakes on these lunatics?

Hello Miss Diane.. I just read this also. Right now I am too damn pissed about the "correct verbiage" mess, to care really. Odd they can't take care of the stores they have, yet they keep buying more, their greed is almost unbelievable.
I am really beginning to hate this place !

Just read this board, that should give u an earful. While over the years there have been some things mis construed, most is right on target. And, why ? Because it is not just the little piss ants bitchen..you have managers, and other higher ups on here, and they are fed up also.
Just out of curiosity, how and why did you come to this board Mountain Lady ?

Take every thing you read here with a grain of salt. There has been a lot of changes to Walgreens over the last couple years and a most is not popular with the people at store level. The main changes have taken us from a great company to just another company.

A lot of us got spoiled over the years by how we were treated and change is hard for a lot to accept.Make up your own mind and dont go by what you read here.

If you are going to use this blog to get information you are going to have to take a 50/50 take about what people are saying. There are a lot of bitter people on and some of them have a right to be and some of them do not. Walgreens is doing a lot of good things as well as questionable things. I for one believe Walgreens is still a relatively good company to work for.

Are my benefits as good as the use to be? No. But 90% of business cut there benefits. Many companies recently cut
spouse insurance. You will hear a lot about raises. Mine had always been 25 cents. The pass two years they were over 50 cents. There is too much change but at least they are changing. Right now there is too much dust to see how things will play out. Once it settles we will all really see the benefits or negatives from all this.

Just stating the obvious - they wanted your real estate and script files. Thats it. Same as everywhere else they have killed neighborhood pharmacies

Here's my input for you folks from Kerr-
First of all, welcome to the team!
Walgreens has a long history of acquiring smaller chains. They do a good job of negotiating and ultimately getting what they want from the deal. Often times, or especially in my part of the country, they purchase a small chain and make their executives now a Walgreens VP or corporate official. The company really is hurting smaller pharmacies. However, growth is part of any major business-especially retail.
Now, id say that the biggest change you'll see is that every move you make and every key stroke you make, will be monitored. Walgreens has protocol for literally everything. And yes, even telling us exactly what to say to the customer before they leave our store as in "be well". As every other major company, you'll see how tightly the company will want to work you and attempt to cut every expense they can. Maybe that's how it is at smaller chains too, I don't know.
You guys are becoming Walgreens employees in the midst of a major transformation for the company. You'll hear more of company strategy down the road, but in a nutshell, the company wants to expand the role of community pharmacy and extend into the convenient, affordable healthcare realm. The company wants to be a health and daily living destination for America and beyond. In working to achieve this goal, current employees are going through heck. It's been rough, but many are hanging tight.
Obviously, I can't say what the future holds for all of you, but I will say that positives can come out of this. Perhaps it could be a resume builder? Many employers admire employees who have work experience at Walgreens. Also, with 8,200+ drugstores, digital assets, and now growth into Europe- I believe there may still be opportunities in store leadership, pharmacy staff, and corporate positions. With the plans this company has for the future, I'm assuming they'll always need people in different categories of work. Are the pay and benefits outstanding here? Not so much. But it can be a rewarding job, sometimes.
Read up on the history of the company and look into the company's culture. Soon, you'll probably be hearing more about the direction we are heading. It may not be all that bad.
I know you'll all be welcome here. As employees of a small pharmacy chain that has won many awards for customer service, hopefully you folks an offer insight to the leaders of Walgreens on how to truly lead the way in retail customer service.(not by using fake salutations).
I wish you guys the best and welcome you to the Walgreens family.

There's a book called, "Americas Corner Store: Walgreens' Prescription for Success" that talks about the company over the years:)
