Hi everyone my name is Jerry. I work for Walgreens and I hate it. I am a manager in District 53. I think Walgreens sucks as a compan. It is funny when managers like Brian Leonard can screw arond on his wife with a fellow managerLisa Destafano from district 119. When exa's are passed up in Punta Gorda,Port charlotte hell even FtMyers because they dont kiss The dm ass. The lp for my district is Telling people he is not married doesnt wear his ring and is having sex with people in the district as we speak. Walgreens is a joke and It will be like cvs soon. It is all about the Stock holders, screw the employees and the employees. Life at Walgreens will get worse in Jan when Insurance goes up. Looking for a new place to work. Just remember U are just a # to Walgreens

Dont loose hope. You should contact Fox News I think they would love a story like that. Expose thoes bastards for what they are. They should have had some compassion, I guess that was to much to ask. They (Walgreens) says we contacted Employee relations on this matter.....etc, . managers and dm's say what ever they want and they think its all ok. Even they have a boss. Good luck,Jerry

I was just FORCED on disability leave by Walgreens yesterday. I have back and hip problems that leave me in constant pain. I worked my shifts, as I was an STL, did my job etc. Store Manager discussed MY medical issues with DM, and after giving them my diagnosis, I was told I am a liability, and they forced me out!!!! "No reasonable accomodations" is what they said, but my only limitation is no "heavy lifting". I have had this condition for almost 2 years, was promoted in my current medical condition, and am now being told that I am a liability????

I agree. I got hurt on the job, but workers comp. denied the cover. Even other managers at Walgreens agreed that I got screwed. Don't even get me started on disability leave..... Walgreens DOES NOT care about their employees. Not only will the store managers lie and back stab you, but so will the district offices. Do not trust them. They only care about their MONEY. They will not spend a dime on any injury that happened while you are at work and they will try to get away from paying for disability.

One of my former coworkers was terminated for giving the manager HIV from sex,it was one of those, if you sleep with me then you will get more hours kind of thing. LP came in and said that she was being terminated for failing to disclose the disease at time of hire, but she did not get the disease until 1yr after working there. I bet the manager had some explaining to do to his wife.

Funny, LP is, under threat of terminiation, to keep reasons of terminiation confidential.

sounds like you have nothing to be honest. Can you prove any of your claims in court? Can Lp prove your coupon missuse? Likely. Store managers and your department managers have nothing to do with any of this. Your department manager wouldn't of fired you because he probably doesn't have the authority too. Him being present durring your termination only allows for more accusations of why he/she fired you. Store manager/corparate/HR in alot of business settings are the only ones able to terminate.
To Jerry B, Fox news doesn't look for stories like this nor does your local newspaper. Who would take up a story that only has one side. Your employer will "no coment" and if a paper or station publishes a story, in a way they are taking a side without even hearing side B. Some media outlets cover stories where people get scamed or a group of people are treated wrong. Not too many stories regarding unique individual situations where only one side can be heard of a complex story. No court docs or proof is no story.

Dang you should be head LP because you know everything. Unless you saw all these people doing these acts then it's nothing more the slander. Guess what ur not the only x walgreens at CVS. Ever heard "Here comes new boss same as the old boss". If true they may get terminated and be your boss again at CVS.

You got fired because they can't count on you to show up to work. It is plain and simple. Show up to work and you keep your job. You can't run a pharmacy with people calling off, even if they are "legitimate" excuses.

He's right about having to fill RX's at Walgreens. The confidentiality at my store was ridiculous and I've seen the manager look up employees prescriptions. Thats why when I needed an antianxiety med I went to a competing phramacy, wanting it to be confidential. I was told by (CVS) pharmacist after he made a call to the Walgreens Pharmacy that my prescriptions are only covered at Walgreens, and I would have to pay full price at CVS. Not only that, one time I was prescribed codeine cough syrup and was told by the Manager NOT the pharmacist, not to take my medication at work. Unbelievable lack of confidentiality.
That is a HIPPA violation! Sue then now !......

I had to start taking medication in may of 2009 and company policy is: employees have to fill their RX at Walgreens. I take HIV medication and was having alot of problems adjusting to the meds, had to call in sick a few times- got written up, was asked how I got infected, schedule was changed without warning, told to take vacation days when they over scheduled other techs, and finally got written up jan 2010 and fired because I didn't get manager approval to cover a shift, when I was informed that it was my responsibility to cover my scheduled shifts when I started school... I did what the pharmacy manager told me to do. The day I was fired he didn't even have the balls to be present!!! He had his flunkie store managers do the dirty work. What really pisses me off is that I thought I was working with professional medical staff and what I really was working with was a bunch of ignorant, racist, judgmental idiots! I'm not ashamed to have HIV - it just pisses me off when negative reactions impact my life!
What you described is a violation of the ADAAA (American with Disabilities Act Ammendment Act. It is a Federal Law violation and is handled by the EEOC. You are disable if you are HIV positive. I think they also violated HIPPA here. Get a lawyer and sue then! You may even get in a class action! They (Walgreens) have deep pockets, and chances are that they will do a settlement in your case. Your case is a winner! Sue then!......

You can not be forced on disability leave. That is a voluntary decision only. That (being forced) is a violation of the law. Sue then!

UPDATE!
I wrote this article to educate people about what life is like being HIV+. I didn't write this to create drama. I share my life by writing and speaking publically. I talk about real life stuff, stigma, HIV, recovery and self worth. I hope my story helps someone else deal with their life on life's terms. Yes, I was wrongfully terminated and yes I filed a complaint. And I choose to stop the madness at Walgreens before my coworkers jobs would be at risk if they testified on my behalf....and yes they were willing. However, I am not willing to see more families struggling because the breadwinner is unemployed. What I am doing today is that I live life on lifes terms. I am going back to school fulltime, I speak publically about HIV, I educate students, employers and companies about HIV. We all have the responsibility to educate our peers and to be proactive in our healthcare and lives.
I wish you all peace and serenity,

Thank you Lisa for sharing your story. There will always be small minded people that will be negative towards things they don't understand. I applaud you for not letting fear stop you from telling your story!!! God will see you through!! Stay strong!!!:)

I don't like Walgreens because of all the fake sale prices that don't ring up at the register and the pretend not to notice. Or that they charge bottle deposits on small energy shots. Despite numberous complaints and them promising to fix the problem they don't. Then they put the $3.00 energy shots in a bin marked 99 cents and hope people don't notice they are being ripped off. I see so many deals on their shelves saying "buy one get one free" and "buy one get one 50% off" that don't ring up at the register. The energy shot thing is suspicious as they know there is a problem but won't fix it. Sure a 5 cent deposit isn't much but they sell tons of those shots all the time (I'm talking about the nonredeemable tiny bottles not the cans). After a while all those nickles add up and Walgreens is secretly profiteering off unsuspecting customers that don't check their receipts. I like Walgreens but sometimes I am very suspicious of their tactics.

I was wondering when someone would bring that up. Because of HIPPA, you cannot share any information even husband and wife. Once a child is an adult you cannot share their information either. Idn't that breaking a federal law.

As a manager it is your responsibility to inform employees if the can file a ada request. However, HIV is not always covered. In this case it was not hiv causing the issue, but a medicine change. In general that is not a ada claim.

well here in oregon we have to fill our RX's at Walgreens, medical this year is BC/BS, Hnet, and a communitybased program, and delta dental.
Same in New Jersey.Walgreens wants to control their employees to much.Outside of work etc.By having all prescriptions filled at wag, they can find out private information about our health. HIPPA? Please! There is NO confidential ANYTHING at my store.
