I hope so. What are the chances of them laying off the STL and just demoting the mgts?

I've been with this company for 5 yrs and unfortunately I've neveR seen a good side of walgreens besides the benifits. This year someone finally "promoted"me. Even though for 2 yrs I've been doing sims job at photo tech pay! Now I'm being taken advantage of as STL/sims w.e u want to call it. For one as STL , we have managers responsiblity so why is it we do not get the same or a little less then they do?! Now this talk about losing STL and asst managers is BS because my store mgr just told me to apply for asst. So basiclly your running game on me? Because I'll never get promoted to asst if there isn't the position and I don't have the expience to be EXA! Furious!!!
what do you think the chances are of them booting us and just demoting the mgts?

no way that' going to happen. Right now they are 1,000 MGTs over what they wanted about a year ago. If all MGTs who are presently employed decided to take the demotion (instead of a severance package and then unemployment) WAG would be over 1,000 MGTs/ STLs of the number that they want. This is out of an estimated 16,000 MGTs/STLs combined. So therefore 1 out of 16 would have to go. Believe me there will be no problem whatsoever in 1,000 MGTs telling WAG to take the job and shove it. Not with a severance package and then unemployment. No way!!! WAG will have the OPPOSITE problem. There won't be enough people wanting to take the position who are willing and able to do the job. To put in plainly (and hopefully not in a mean way) not too many people really want your job and yet Wasson and Wagner are too stupid to realize that.

My mgr had his roadshow. Sm and exa are safe, mgt will get screwed over. March plans will come down for demotions there will be no layoffs or severance package. You will have to take demotion or quit, either way its a win for walgreens.

This wont be possible in all states. Here in san francisco, things will have to play out differently.

Yeah, right, sure. Going by this insane scenerio thousands of stores would be thrown into absolute chaos overnight. I call BS on this one also.

Fellow WAG employees -- unfortunately when these stories come in about these roadshows we will have to once again have to try and seperate fact from fiction

Listen everyone. There is not going to be A answer to all of this. There will be many answers. It is fact the the whole management structure is going to change, and for the worse from "our" prospective. Middle management, whatever code it becomes is soon to be gone one way or another. Fact. But every market that has a different needs.will get different answers. If you in a market that is still growing and expanding you will probably be fine .....for a while. Maybe even be able to work your way through it intact. If your in a stagnant saturated market with no growth left, it will have to be drastically worse. They will have to be far more aggressive to meet 2/3 year goals. If your in those markets, you better start cleaning out your lockers.

This is way your not hearing much, because there will be many custom talored plans to get the job done where ever you are.

we will not be demoted over night we will be informed of changes in march. Exa will run store sm will be in charge of engaging and planing. Pharmacy managers will go through adsm class and will also be incharge of engaging customers. exa will have plenty of help with demoted mgts and no longer photo staff since we are going with self serve photo. New structure will be fully in place by 2014.

stl will be gone but there will be a position similar which is meant for mgts but since there will be many who quit you will be next in line for the position. I wouldn't worry if I was an stl

If they think they're developing a position meant for current MGTs that pays a lot lower that the MGTs will readily accept then they've been smoking in those meetings.
