Are ASM's going to have set schedules like current Store Managers? You know Monday thru Friday. Every other Saturday 1/2 a day. One closing shift per week.

Now why would get store manager hrs. You're just an exa/asm. You don't get their schedule nor do you get their pay.

ASMs at community stores will basically "run the show" when manager is in the field more than half the week, so logically they should work the SM schedule. No need to be snarky with the opening poster. I haven't heard a peep about a schedule change or pay decrease to ASM. I'm waiting anxiously.

If they go to that what will the SM schedule go to? Can't really see a need for both SM and ASM working alternate Saturdays.

ASM's will probably close one night a week and work a 44 hour OR 5.5 day schedule. ASM's can have two days off per week if they work 44 hours in the other five. ASM's have no caveats about weekends. SM's will still be required to close one night a week.

When the ASM's take the SM's job from them they will work whatever and however long the CL tells them to. The days of 44 and out the door are going going and soon to be gone. They will be scheduled just like all of the shift leads with no favoritism. That is what's wrong with the system now.
Enjoy the cake schedules and the easy life for now because by time the christmas season comes around life will alot different.

I don't know what EXA you are talking about with a "44 hour" cake schedule? We may work more days, but our "day" is 7:30-5:30-6. Our hours are just on paper as a suggestion. And my "night shift" often creeps into 2-3 am just because I can get a lot more done at night. We don't all suck.

Mgr's like you are rare. You can tell what peoples work ethic's are by what they talk about on here. They worry if they will have to close more than one night a week. I averaged 3 to 4 nights a week, but I liked it that way because alot more could be done.

I agree, people's true colors, especially work ethic and negativity, show immensely on this site. But it's like a trainwreck and I just. can't. stop. :-)

..people that stay over all the time are people who can't manage time or delegate good.. That's what I mean about being a clock watcher. Somedays things get done early and you leave early and some days you need to stay a little later than you are scheduled because a project needs to be finished. Nobody is saying you should be in the store 80 hours a week. A wise and very respected V.P. said regularly. Be in your store when you need to be and home the rest of the time with your family.

Work ethic has nothing to do with how long someone is willing to work. I work 45/week and thats it, yet I guarantee you that I can get more accomplished in 45 hours than what every other EXA in my District can get accomplished in 55hours. A good EXA (or any manager) works smarter, not harder. For those who are out there busting their asses and thinking that you're looking good, you're kidding yourselves ... the DM and MGRs just now know that they can take advantage of you.

There is another EXA that lives a few houses down from me and he is one of the ones that gets taken advantage of. He gets conned into working 6 days/week through summer when its entirely unnecessary. He gets called in at random times and cancels plans with his family.

Well, good for you! Unfortunately, there are those of us who have to work 6 days a week because its 'required' by our district. That being said, I don't work as hard when those extra hours come up...

If you are working six days a week then you need to go into SELS and put in for six days pay.

Interesting that not all EXAs are scheduled the same in every market... We are "expected" to do 6 days/week basically the last two months of the year, plus a 6th day here and there for visit preps or inventory prep. Our sixth day is a "half-day". All the stores I've worked it's an understood that on our sixth day it is at our own discretion what shift we work. Usually it is just penciled in on the schedule. We can generally even come in plain clothes and work cooler, stockroom, etc. Whatever work is most needed that given situation. It isn't mandatory, but you're looked at as a slacker if you don't. Is this not standard on everywhere?
