It's widely assumed that Store Managers will be cut in 3-5 years once the current restructuring is complete.

comiskeybum, you are pretty much spot on. Shift Leader is the new positions under ASM, but its not a management position.

How can one be expected to handle nightly cash counts, receiving, refunds, and all the other bs without it being a management position? You sir, are talking out of your ass.

He is not "talking out" of "his ass" - the shift leader is (will be considered) a non-management position. Sorry, but that's just a fact. I know it's stupid but it's corporate that's gone freakin' nuts. Right now the STL is doing "cash counts, receiving, refunds, and all the other bs" and they certainly aren't considered to be management.

You see the new Store Team Leadership being dropped early on the schedule. I'm assuming that will include SMs, ASMs, ASMTs, and shift leaders... they will be in the same category...

The reason why they dropped the "management" title in the scheduling is because not all people who will be under that heading (the one's who will open and close) will be considered management. That's why they had to rename it something else. In logic form -- All Management is a Store Leader but not all Store Leaders are management

what have you heard about the co-manager position? I heard that CL's would have a co-manager in their store.

Because if you are and you make more than 13/hour im honestly shocked.
I've worked with an STL that made 14+/hour.

Granted, this was a very rare situation where it was an extremely long time employee who used to be in management with Walgreens, so they basically got the ceiling that STLs can make. But it's not completely unheard of.

Ok, yeah, now it makes sense. If long time MGTs are reduced to that of a Store Team Lead (or whatever the position will be called) it would not surprise me if they were given the ceiling amount. In fact, it would shock me if they weren't given the ceiling amount.

From what I have heard, the asm will have way more responsibility than exas. Can't imagine going down to 40

I've known STLs making more than 13/14/hr. I find it rather surprising myself to hear of so many STLs making less than 11/hr so commonly on these forums. That's hardly more than the hourly front end staff, and a huge difference from MGT pay.

5) CL will also get an asmt since they need to visit their community store 60% of the time.
I'm just assuming he meant CL will get an extra ASMT
I have heard that the store managers will not be doing any running of stores ie. getting calls vendors etc. so how is the scheduling going to go? you would need at least a co manager and 3 shift leads to cover all the shifts.

Im an EXA been with the company for 12 yrs. I work on average 55-60 hrs a week. It sucks sometimes if you have a family, but I knew this going in. I cannot see taking LESS pay and doing the same work. Wag. has given me a steady job with benefits and I am thankful. I don't think the higher-ups see all the blood and sweat that we endure. I am very proud and I will not beg for my job.

If you think that your job is "a sure thing" or that this company won't pay you less for more work or that you won't lose your job after giving your blood, sweat and tears, open your eyes! I have been a STL for 3 yrs. working right beside exa's, Asm's, opening by myself daily, walking the sales floor 3x3 making detaled notes, delegating duties, scanning in vendors, holding 5 min. meetings, updating compass, taking in the truck by myself, closing on holidays ALONE,etc, etc. Store Managers never intended to follow the rules when corp. rolled out the STL position.I only make 11 dollars an hour and the other "managers" make no less than 18 dollars an hour. So get use to KEYHOLDER'S RUNNING the Walgreens stores now! "Welcome to CVS, how can I piss you off today"

A lot of hateful comments about how much money Assistants managers make, just pure jealousy....some people just wish that we really do get a pay decrease...ASssistant manager position has been around for years all you haters shaould have applied for the position before.

How can you be so sure that noone forced anyone to do anything? Maybe like myself, they were, when your SM tells you to do a job for several months because there isn't anyone else that will take it that to me is force. Finally you give in and say well I might as well, I've been doing it anyway. It is also possible, that the reason some are STL's instead of AM's is because we don't have (yet) a degree and at my store...if you don't you are automatically an idiot! I think all of us are in a shitty position right now and there is no reason for anyone to feel superior to anyone else, it would appear we are all in the same sinking ship.

P.S
When I accepted the STL, position I did not realize it was Asm. position in disguise , yes call me naive,I was new to the company.
