Ok, here’s the layout. A lot of this has already been mentioned. As far as the ASM-Trainees are concerned there will actually be 2 for each community. One of which will be in the CL’s store. The ASM for the CL store will be the one that is considered to be “store manager ready”. Nationwide there will be 1350 “store manager ready” ASMs in the CL’s stores. There will be 2700 ASM – Trainees.
All other ASMs can be considered “career assistant managers”.

The ASMs will take direct authority over all clerks and will be considered their “advisor”. The shift leaders will not be considered to be under the authority of the ASM but directly under the authority of the store manager. The ASM is the one that will plan out the daily tasks – not the store manager.

Shift Leaders will do the sims work and will have a flexible work schedule.

Pretty much the only question I want an answer to is when will the new pay structure take affect for the former MGTs. Some have mentioned it will be a 1-2 year transition. Others, just recently, have said it will be almost immediate (i.e. March 12 -17).

That's all well and good ,but has anyone considered what this is leading up to? The ASM will be in charge of day to day operations of the store then what does that really leave for the store mgr to do. Oh I know pack your bags, fill out and send resumes out to new employers, and get ready to have your life rocked. Don't think that will happen then ask the district supervisors that were rewired. Wake up people. The end is near.

The strategy is to give more money to a few people to make them gung-ho, and at the same time take money away from the employees they want to quit (higher paid long term employees) who will probably leave. Then hire in new eager employees who will be happy just to have a job.

so your saying there is not a new title for STL like others are saying? Also what if you already make more than the 12 to 13 dollars?
Yes, 2 STL's on overnight is all....this phase will start As soon as end of the month. I heard regular stores are getting ASM and 3 SFL's (shift leads), though.

The end is near??? Walgreens MADE 70 BILLION dollars last year!! Are you for real??? NO, the SM now gets to do what they have a degree for...what we went to school for...to coach and teach and be a LEADER, not unload the truck and make mylars!!! I went to school to teach people how to be the best they can be and earn my store money, not to be a stockboy!!! I looked at operating statements, analyzed numbers, and learned how to motivate people to enjoy what they do, not put boxes on a u-boat and open totes & put stuff on a shelf!!

No,trust me we'll be talking about this for years. This will impact us more then you think. It will be emormous! After the pay cuts if you don't quit they'll start writing you up over silly stuff to fire you.If that don't work they'll drop your hours so low that you can't keep your insurance so you will quit. You can keep thinking this is funny all you want, nothing funny here.Do you still live at home with mother or something?

Boy you have no sense of the future. With this new setup your position as SM is becoming obsolete. Going by your postings (if you really are a SM) you don't know crap about how to motivate people.

So will the SL be like manager now? Will they have more authority like write ups now?

I actually have a diagram of the new store structure. On the diagram the Shift Leaders have no one under them. The clerks are under that of the ASM. So no, the SL will not do write ups. They simply lead their shifts as their position indicates. However, you, without a doubt can inform the ASM of the actions (or inactions) of the employee and they, the ASM, will do the write up. Also on this topic --- the Shift Leaders are directly under the Store Manager. They are not under the ASM. Going by this chart, therefore, if a Shift Leader would be written up it would have to be done by the SM.
