Does the SM pay get cut too? I'm still not buying the fact that we will drop down to 40k, but stranger things have happened. All I can say is that new bonus better be decent. There are retailers out there that can do way better than that. Grrrr.

Assistant mgt was dropped down to 30k.....why is it impossible for exa to be dropped to 40k? Try finding a job out their that pays what we make now without a degree....and yes I am one who is being affected by the pay cut too.

those EXAs that are "poo-pooing" the 40k rate are in denial -- much like the MGTs at the first of this year who thought there was no way corporate would drop their pay the way they dud.

@ Geraldo....you r right....I remembered when mgt was in denial.....nothing is impossible with this company anymore ....mgts r just waiting for exa to turn the job down to snatch it up.....clerks and photo tech....they are just pretending that they don't want sfl position ....but that just a front for now just because of pride..but they will soon b snatching those position once mgt quits.....that is if they have the opportunity to quit.....we r all screwed...

I'll take 40k a year over the 20k I'm making now. Then again I'm one of those willing to take the SFL position. I'm already meeting the requirements of the position as a photo tech. do the list and babysit the rest of the crew with customer problems, vendors, returns, etc... while the manager sips coffee in the office.

I am still fairly new as an AM. I would gladly take the $17/hr. That's $1 more than I make now, so why not? I enjoy my job and don't mind earning my money. Too many people are worried about making the $$$ but not doing the work.
The reason too many people are worried is because too many people HAVE done the work, and also enjoyed it, NOW the "big bucks " are a drop in pay with the same, or more work. 17 would be good for alot of the people, but for alot more of us ...it would be going backwards

SM pay IS getting changed but we don't know how yet. If you read the FAQ's on storenet it alludes to the new compensation plan that will be announced later this year. The last time I looked I think it said October so I'd guess things will start leaking around July or so.

In some states it would be difficult for WAG to cut SM pay without making everyone sign up for a new job title. Most SM's I've talked to think that some sort of salary cap will be instituted so people who have been around long enough to be above the cap would no longer be eligible for raises. Obviously, the bonus structure is probably going to be adjusted to allow for ASM's to get a bigger piece of the pie.

Its not impossible to find that pay without a degree. There are many ways around the degree problem.

Where the hell are MGTs making 45k? I only made $38k last year, and I've been with the company as an MGT for 6 years! The MGTs pay will drop to just under $30k after the SFL demotion.

broken down hourly, i am making just around 23.... been an exa for almost 5 years..we will call it 53 - 55 last year with bonus.. It is not always easy to replace that income... but if they do drop it to 40 (which i suspect is very very likely), then it will be easier to replace that

Why wait around for them to eventually screw you? Even if it doesn't go down to what this rumor is now ... what faith do you have in this company to not continue making additional cuts every few years in the future? Everyone will eventually either be paid less or expected to do MUCH more for the same pay.

I'm looking around now. There are opportunities out there. Worse case scenario is you go out looking for a job that may actually teach you a set of skillsets at a lower pay for a couple years, but the next job you have after that you're back up to where you are now... WITH employable skill sets.

If the SM's bonus is cut they sure aren't going to give it to the ASM. That would defeat the purpose of the cut. When they are done making all of the cuts there will be an ASM who will be thankful they have a job and two shift leads in a non 24 hour store. The days of sitting in the office waiting for five o'clock are all but over. If you don't like it they will replace you with someone who will love it at least for a while.

Yeah you may be right. It's my opinion that the bonus will simply be split closer to the middle for the SM and ASM. I do think they need some way of justifying the impending pay cut for current EXA's and the company will sell it as "Our top workers will earn a much higher bonus than previously possible!"

Basically the same bullshit we've been hearing about how the transformation will "allow the best people to be promoted."... as if to say the best people are currently being overlooked for some unforeseen reason.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Taurus

Loved ones are hard to handle today because they refuse to do what you ask. It's a very trying experience but there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. You might also see a new side to a certain person now, perhaps when they talk about something that's very important to them which you knew nothing about until now.
