I'm just curious to know how many of us asst. mgt's are certified in the pharmacy. I am....I remember they started at 14.50 four years ago and with no salary cap. Wouldn't It make more sense for us to count pills. And avoid the bullshit work we go through. Versus taking the 14.50 they want to give us with a salary cap. Right?? Any comments please ...

I am ptcb certified, and a Registered Pharmacy tech. In Florida. I'm not taking the drop in pay and position. Even though the overnight sfl think would give me more time for job interviews. I don't want to have to say my last position was shift lead. FU Wag

Well I make about 17 an hour. I'm sure I'll get matched that if not close for a cert. tech position in the rx. I got a good track record. My only worry is rx hours being available. You should do the same. I'm assuming your certified since you replied.

If you are thinking about working in the pharmacy on a regular basis or possibly transferring into the pharmacy, I would suggest you talk to your SM and the RXM as soon as possible to explore your options. I don't know how your seniority would compare with the seniority of current pharmacy employees but pharmacy cuts are rumored to come very soon.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have already spoken to my str mgr about this. He said its a possibility. I guess I need to wait to see what's going to happen in the rx. I asked my str mgr about the rx's future and he wouldn't talk. So the rx might be a disappointing option as well. Only time will tell I guess.

in my district the DM is still keeping the max sfl rate a secret. he said that info is not available until may or something. so all the mgt's i have talked to around the district just act like this transformation is no big deal. i told my assistants they would be dropping to the max rate and tried to make them understand they will be taking a paycut, but with the DM keeping the info secret that's all i can really tell them. i just find it funny that all the mgt's around the district keep saying "it's no big deal". i'm like, yeah, lets see if you are saying that once the rate comes out.

Certified techs in a hospital setting can start at about 15 an hour with training and and promotions you can push 40-50 in a short time based on your performance. Just tossing that out there

Does anyone know what the future plan is for the pharmacy? Regarding what was discussed in the roadshow meetings.

Not a mgt but work in the pharmacy, a bunch of stores are going 9 to 9 Rumored to having 2 techs for the day. some stores have 4 techs, and the bottom 2 techs are screwed. Apparently our option is to pick up hours in the srore. just saying.

Another way Wasson could have played this is by asking all MGT's to become certified techs and gradually phased us into the RX(to possibly become Sr techs).....instead of phasing us out completely.

I'm still not sure how our company wants to become a RX/health care destination without having a strong, diverse, fully staffed pharmacy.

The cross-pay would have been comparable to what MGT's make, maybe a silly idea...but it sounded good for a minute :) At least that way i'd have a clear-cut goal from District, and not be talking about $4/hr paycuts.

so the max rate in los angles or new york city is the same as the rate in podunk cheapville, USA? i have a hard time believing that, but it may be true. i still have to see something in writing before i am going to tell my assistants a rate. our CL's are saying $14 is the max here, but the DM keeps telling the store managers he doesn't know anything until may.

could be a safe haven. Not going out to look for a job and losing medical, vacations, etc. It is not fun out there for those that are looking for a job. A lot of commission sales in retail are open.
People have to decide on their own, will the new pay rate pay their bills and will they continue to be excellent Walgreen's employees?
The best to you all!

You're not the only one that finds that hard to believe ---$14.50 in NYC ??? You can hardly get a clerk to work for that type of wage in NYC.
