Did anyone else have to sign a paper agreeing to use proper verbiage at all times and receive a laminated "cheat sheet" card? Each employee will be evaluated every month to see if they're using the "Welcome to Walgreens," "Be Well," and "Thanks for calling Walgreens, your way to well" phrases. After three strikes, you're terminated. Apparently at the district meeting, they made it clear that if an employee doesn't consistently use proper "branded salutations," they will no longer be working for Walgreens. This company just becomes more and more ridiculous every day.. It's such a joke working for Walgreens now.

Whoa, I'm glad I don't work in your district. I'd be fired tomorrow -- especially since I've never even heard of the 'way to well' phrase for answering the phone.

.......uh huh..........I am waiting for the day that some state unemployment board tells Walgreens that terminating an employee for not using a branded phrase, is not going to excuse Walgreens for firing someone. And it will happen..........

We will be given an on the spot verbal warning in front of dm or whoever if we do not say them. If it happens again then the manager gets one and employee gets written warning.

It because it is not being enforced at the store level. So this was the next step they thought necessary.

Photo watches front end, front end watches cosmetics. We have to fill out these slips on co workers at our store to make sure they're saying it. Pharmacy is on their own. So, while helping a customer at our station, we are required to be watching the other station and make sure that employee is using verbiage.

From what I've gathered, we're all supposed to sign that paper mentioned above, which is called "The Pledge", as if we weren't already cult-like enough. It's all part of the ECC program, and they believe all this will raise service scores. But the reality is... you don't increase service scores with salutations, catch phrases, or phony branded anything. You increase service scores by actually giving your stores budgets to staff them with people to provide service to begin with. THEN we can worry about what we are or aren't saying (Though I would still find the plastic branded stuff to be ridiculous).

The "order" came down verbally in my old store months ago. We were also supposed to police everyone else. I stepped up my job search and left. After I left, I heard through the grapevine that the staff complained that they were being forced to say it but the management wasn't saying it. The management started saying it for a while and dropped the whole subject. Now no one is saying it. Haven't heard anyone in any other Walgreens locally say it - not that I shop there very often anymore - so maybe it isn't a requirement in my district anymore. It feels particularly stupid to say it when you are covering an IC3 in the pharmacy.

LOL I feel like this forum is a store without us saying, "Hello, Welcome to Walgreens!" I think half of our posts scream that already. And some have even said, Be Well!

We're definitely on our way guys, with this whole branded salutations!

Be Well!!

Yeah, thats pretty much whatit is here. We have to police another station. Essentially we are spying on others. It's creating drama because we all know who is responsible for policing us for every shift, and when we get in trouble, we know exactly who ratted us. We even had a CL hide outside behind a tree to make sure our techs were saying it in drive thru.

Hiding behind a tree? Omg...that would've been a Kodak moment. That CL should be ashamed. How low WILL they go?

You should've called the police, saying "Um there's a strange man/woman hiding behind a tree, and he seems to be particularly interested in the pharmacy..." When they arrived and questioned him/her, that would have been epic lol.

I can foresee a lawsuit in the making. Plus, making employees rat each other out? How juvenile can they get. I am so glad we are done, so very done with this company. Just found out they purchased a mom and pop pharmacy in a small town where I knew the pharmacist, she was fired on the spot by Walgreens. I'm not sure if they offered to interview her for the "same" position but I know for a fact that they would have paid less. She's not going to bother with them.

A lot of this I've noticed has to do with how much of the kool-aid your DM is sipping. My DM is a very real guy, he says all of this stuff at meetings because he has to but only enforces the initiatives that are logical and not foolish. There is 0 enforecement of these salutations throughout my district. Two things the DM is enforcing very hard is balance rewards and flu shots. Makes sense and I don't have a problem with that.

And I just heard it here for the first time but this culture of spying on your own co worker is pathetic. I think the last time I 'tattled' on somebody was in kindergarten

IF, and do mean IF, I starting saying any of this BS, it will only be until I can decide how to get the hell outta Dodge!
But you can rest assure I will not tell on any employee who is working their but off, that they did not say this pre- written, forced crap . Anyone who turns me in- and granted they will, so be it .Once again this place is becoming impossible to put up with. And I wonder, how many other companies force feed this mess and threaten termination for not saying it.
Plus, seriously, is there no recourse to Wag if terminated for not saying it? How many things have they came up with , we were suppose to say or do,and no one did it, or their district did not know about, then just phased out?Plenty.
Just read Wag is buying another 76 stores,in NC, OMG the employee's there are just gonna love this.

MY customers, could care less about this phony pre scripted crap. You know what they like? When I say, yes, you can find that brand of product on aisle seven, right side, hanging up. And they stop by and thank me for this service of mine all the time! That added feature they like.

Yeah bunch crap what they make us do and say. Get fired over that can anyone say unemployment. Bet our customers would love to know how were treated and harrassed. Looks like to me wag has nothing better do with time, but try think of reasons fire people. No other company forces people say shit. Also mgt has take test wow no other company does that. How can workers be happy when the company treats people like shit and slaves.
