I work at Corporate (can't say what dep't), and I've seen multiple instances of Genpact mistakenly making checks out to individual employees at our vendors -- instead of putting "Attention John Doe" on the check, they'll make the check PAYABLE to John Doe. That's not the worst part: Soon Accounts Receivable is moving to Genpact as well -- about 2/3rds of the company's revenue comes from insurances, government programs (Medicaid/Medicare) and the like. By the end of the year, Genpact will be in charge of collecting this money -- billions of dollars in balances. Terrifying.

I am wondering what happened--did Walgreenschange their ways or are they still behind? Please let me know.
hard working floor guy wrote:
Ok so here is the story, a few months ago Walgreen’s Corporation did some restructuring this inconluded their contracts for floor maintenance. The changes Walgreen’s Corporation made were nation wide, and we have heard similar stories from other people in other states. To keep my job I had to take a pay cut, as did many others including the contractors themselves, but in this economy we were just happy that I was working. Now we are dealing with the pay cut. But as if that was not
enough, ever since the new restructuring Walgreen’s Corporation had not been paying their contractors in a timely manner, despite repeated resubmitting the bills. The contractors are not allowed to submit a bill to the accounting department until the invoiced bills are 30 days over due. The contractors have the person doing the floors turn in each stores invoice to the store manager at the end of each month for all
the work done that month. This has resulted in the pay coming in piece meal. Some bills we have heard are reaching 120 days past when the work was done, with the sub’s still not getting paid. A whole lot of the store managers just don’t send in the invoices to the accounting department to be paid, and as I said the above contractors are not allowed to submit a bill for unpaid invoices to the accounting department until the invoiced bills are 30 days over due. Then the accounting department is supposed to pay the bill within 30 days. It seems that nether the local district manager or the local regional manager of Walgreen’s is keep watch over the matter. Accounts payable blames the managers and the managers blame accounts payable. Many managers insist that they have sent in the invoices to be paid! For my part I has not been paid for two of my stores in October totaling to me $760.00 the amount is
of course more owed to the contractor. I have not been paid for three of my stores in November totaling to me $1250.00. I have not been
paid for all nine of my stores I did in December totaling $3400.00.This total is $5410.00, and I am about to bill for January's work, all ten stores and it will be $3125.00. So I will be owed $8535.00 as of February 1rst. From what we hear, this story is similar to every contractor and their subcontractors doing floor maintenance for
Walgreen’s Corporation around the country. Imagine this…. I do 9 to 10 stores each month, how many stores are out there? According to their website 7,147, if they are all that behind for every 10 stores and my story is average that adds up to at least 6 million dollars the company owes and is just dragging there feet to pay. So we the little guys are suffering while there bottom line is
going up! There is someone at the top telling them to pay as slow as possible. That is the only thing that makes any sense. Anyways I figured that if everyone starts asking questions it might shake things up,and make them pay their people. Because right now me and thousands of others are slaving for this company and getting nothing back. I have no legal recourse only the contractor has the right to sue or put leans on the stores. I asked tonight “How far in the hole do you want me to dig myself before I go look for other work?” My little bit of savings is gone, because we have had to live and pay the high operating costs of doing this business. We can not go on working for no pay. It is sad to think we are not alone in this
dilemma. While Walgreen’s stock prices reach almost there 52 week high today at 36.17 considerably higher than compared to last years price. So come on people lets make some noise! It is time to fight for the little guy.

Totally true about WAG not paying bills on time. I'm a contractor and they currently owe me $33K, and they are over 90 days late. They have, however accidentally paid 2 of my invoices twice! Now that's another mess I have to fix with them.

My company has also had a lot of trouble getting paid. Calling AP does no good. I just got the run around about looking on some vendor website that turned out to be impossible to understand. The store manager blames A/P and A/P just says re-submit. We offer lawn services....I guess it's time to just cut off service when any invoice reaches 60 days.

I am a sub contractor for walgreens. It's all true that they are not paying any of their maint vendors. They are OVER 8 months + behind on paying our company. They insult us by sending checks in the amount of $65-130 twice a week. When we complain all they say is you will get paid. We fear to file a lawsuit as for it will take years before it's settled. Walgreens will find ways to prolong it.

I'll go ahead and give you 24 hours to retract this statement, else I'm going to forward this to Walgreens Legal department. You have no right to smear Walgreens by telling the public at large that Walgreens doesn't pay its contractors.
Wow. Yes...You stop that saying bad things about the poor little Walgreens company or I'll go tell!! We have definitely traveled back in time to kindergarten. Congrats.

"This, coming from the guy who generated the 250+ word rant about how Walgreens doesn't pay its contractors, with a title saying the same, but, BY THE WAY, the poster doesn't know what is going on, by the poster's own admission.
I think this pretty much says it all.
Reminder, btw: 24 hours. Tick tock."
You sound like you work for Walgreens accounts payable. I had to sue Walgreens to get past due moneys. Walgreens plays the game "Oh, the store submits the billing to be paid." Then the store says "I sent it." Pure game-playing. Store managers get a bonus on reduced expenses. So if they do not send the invoice to corporate, it helps their bonus. Yes, Walgreens does play with their small contractors because they figure the small guys won't take action.

Speaking as someone who has seen from the inside just how the offshore accounting staff operates, I can tell you it's probably not a deliberate delay tactic on the store manager's part. It's more likely to be total incompetence on corporate's end, or more specifically, on Genpact's end. Don't assume it's the manager trying to screw you, I assure you there is more to the problem than SM's trying to game their bonuses.

My company, which I am the President and CEO of, has been contracting with Walgreens since 2000, and we have always gotten paid ...eventually. I say eventually, because we rarely, if ever get paid in 30 days, which are the terms set forth in our contracts. We do business with multiple Walgreens district offices in several different states and we are normally paid 15-20 days past due. We do charge late fees which Walgreens has never balked at paying. For some reason, they can not seem to meet that 30 day deadline, but they do pay.

After 9+ years as the Store/Corporate Stamp and Dater supplier to WAG we just got replaced.
Why?
We asked when we could expect payment. How rude of us!
During the integration of D/R WAG went from a solid 30 Day pay to 60/90 in 2011.
Bad acquisition? Assuming too much debt? Who knows.
My opinion 60Days is the same as no pay.
Let the new vendor figure it out.
If more vendors leave, WAG will have holes on the gondolas and soon go the way of MonkeyWard and C.City - ByeBye.

You got it right breeze!
After 9+ years of providing Stamps and Daters we just got replaced. Why? We had to put WAG on credit hold - Couldn't get our parts to make Stamps and Daters.
AND we asked when we could expect payment. How rude of us!
So when you Associates start getting schlock product instead of our EnviroLight Pre-inked stamps -AND- the re-inking fluid sent to you destroys your stamps send a big THANK YOU to your DM/DTS/StoreOps Corporate and your Regional VP Store Ops!
Associates, keep me in the loop I'd like to know how all of this turns out.
Thanks,

Why on earth would any vendor continue to work, when not getting paid in a timely manner ? A damn Dr. won't even see you, if you owe him money.. our vendors should demand payment, and on time!

Tex - That's right and that's what we did!
Life will be interesting with out WAG as a client but it WILL go on.
Our other clients, The Home Depot, SVU/ABS, etc. are/will be picking up the slack.
I'd just like Associates to keep me informed on what type of product is being brought in and whether their stamps are getting destroyed with the wrong re-fill ink.

<quoted text>Walgreens DOES allow shoplifting in there stores. Fake toy cameras hanging on walls although there are real ones too but nobody monitors them unless you are of a certain race or a group of kids. Not only can you shoplift without much problem but you can then return the items you shoplift for store credit. Heck, while you are there, do not just take a piece of merchandise here and there...clean out the whole shelf...nobody will notice.

With all the job cuts and the amount of work still remaining to be completed, the employees that are left do not have time to give customers in the store attention and with the way Walgreens has treated the employees, many have the attitudes of "why do anything above and beyond for Walgreens."

Many 24 hour stores, customers can walk in and not see a single employee and can help themselves to most anything.
Even in regular stores. Its so understaffed that its a shoplifters dream.

Who are you folks contacting that is giving you the work, and who are you contacting to get paid?
I've had to call and harass the sales person daily in order for them to work it out with the AP department. The sales Dept gets annoyed at you for ruining their day, so they push the AP dept.
