So I work as an SFL. I was under the impression I would have the opportunity come January/February-ish range that I could apply to the ASM program thing to be an ASM-t. However, I overheard my SM and the CL talking about him taking over things. So far, the SM has been training him to do the interviewing and application process. He has also taken over doing the AD bulletins as well. She told me and the other SFL (in a meeting) that they were getting him ready for ASM-t. I mean what else are they going to make the ASM when they complete the program. To me, the SM will become more and more useless if they are making the ASM do everything.

Is the company planning on training the EXAs to be ASM-t and screwing everyone else or what?

Your post was kind of hard to follow. You mentioned like 3 other people without properly introducing them.

You have to read the Field Transformation guide on StoreNet for the most recent proposed future structure plans. It is confirmed that current MGTs must either step down to SFL or apply and interview for the ASM-T position.

There are multiple threads on this forum titled "field transformation guide".

Basically what is going around in them is that EXAs will needed to be interviewed for the ASM position. They will not need much further training in that new position, but that is still to be decided.

One theory was that the company was going to do away with SMs and have the ASMs run the stores, while the CLs would be the "multi-unit managers". That is still to be confirmed.

EXAs are becoming ASMs not ASM-Ts.

Your post isn't very clear on who is being trained.

Post sucks......period, and if this is how you articulate then this proves my point of how most SFL are a bunch of numbskulls.......you guys have zero chance of moving up. The SFL position is their to enslave you. But thanks for not reading other threads and wasting our time.

Here is the deal.

1. All EXAs will be promoted to ASM, if they are bad EXA's the company will try to run them out next year before the transition.

Facts. You must be a SFL for a minimum of 6 month to apply for ASM-T.

Most likely- Former MGTs will have preference over SFLs or STL that just went SFL.

Fact/Actual STLs may not apply for the ASM-T. You must be a SFL or greater for 6 months. This may change after the first year when we look at external candidates.

Some stores with out a ASM/EXA will get a strong ASM-T candidate that will be placed on a 7 to 12 week program. Note: This can being anyone from the district it is not restricted by community.

MGT's will not have to go to SFL April 2013, we will have atleast until April 2014.

Are you saying the DM and CL were talking to the SM about applying HIM to become ASM? I agree, your post is confusing.

If the SM wishes to step doen (can't imagine that) then of course, they are more qualified than an SFL.

EXA would be first in line to become ASM since it is an equal position.

THen you have MGT's that would apply for it.

STL.SFL would be next in line (after meeting the criteria for the position)

MGTs cannot 'apply' for ASM, only for ASM-T. No one can become an ASM without having been an EXA or an ASM-T first.

WaGEXA- for stores who do not have EXA or shortage in the district, the MGT's can be fasttracked to the ASM spot.

MGT's on the fast track program will only be an ASM-T for around 8 weeks or so. Obviously, these people will be going to some of the slower stores.

If you're an EXA in a district with a lot of empty spots and you're in a slower spot get ready to be transferred. Next round of transfers should happen in Jan/Feb.

Our district already does this. Strongest EXAs are in the busiest stores, and it goes down the line. Slowest stores get just MGTs.

My community is one of these that is short EXAs. It still does not change the fact that those MGTs will have to go through the ASM-T program, expedited as it may be.

Anyone who speaks to employees regarding the Field Transformation Process. No one goes from MGT to ASM. The ASM-T program may be expedited, but no one skips it entirely.

Exactly. The ASM-T process is the new ADSM. No one skips this step.

Ok to clarify... The Store Manager of my store mentioned to the EXA of my store that they need to get him ready for ASM-t. So, it seems to me the latter posts here are correct and he will still go through an expedited training program.

My frustration is due to the fact that I was encouraged by an MGT of a different store to apply for the ASM-t program. I'm a little new to this process. I have only been an SFL at my store for about 6 months now so I will be eligible next year for ASM-t myself but I am under the impression there won't be many (or any) openings left.

The exa is going to ask, not asm t. You still have opportunity to apply

I think you'll be surprised by how many ASM-T positions are available.

I agree....this is something mostintelligent people like us already know. All the paranoid ones are leaving in droves. And well they should because they know they wouldn't have a chance anyway.

Yup, we already have four openings in our community. And I'd be shocked if another one or two didn't open up by the time this rolls out.

Walgreens goal isn't to lose any good managers. If you're good at what you do, they'll find a spot for you. It's the dead weight and managers who are just coasting that will be weeded out.

Still makes for a nerve wracking experience. Every SM I've talked to has the same two MGTs as their "likely ASM-T candidates" which makes me think it's already decided, but as I've seen with ADSM over the years, you can never be sure until it's official.

My understanding is that MGTs cannot be promoted directly to ASM. They must first complete the training. Upon the completion of the training, ASM-T can be promoted to ASM if they did well in training. If the ASM-T does not get promoted upon the completion of training, they will have to wait 6 months before they will be eligible for promotion. I'm not entirely sure on the 6 month figure. It may be longer.
