Rumor has it Store Managers are going to get a pay cut.
Meeting coming end of June.
Anyone heard anything about this?

I don't wish anyone any ill will but if we all getting pay cuts then i don't see why not SMs too.

Who says all? I don't think anyone should. I understand a freeze for now but a cut...talk about employees not giving a rats ass anymore. Come on now.
The big wigs get a million $$$ raise and we hear cuts.

No one knows if it will be an outright pay cut or a restructuring of the pay to bonus ratio. On Storenet it says the compensation plan will be unveiled in August.

My personal opinion is that the bonus structure and yearly raise percentages will be adjusted. SM's and ASM's will basically split the bonus pool. That's how they will justify the lower salary ($40k) for ASM's.

all i know is we have a district meeting scheduled for late june to discuss compensation structure. then individual (one on one with dm) meetings starting in late july to discuss "how this will personally effect our compensation" going forward

The majority of these talks will revolve around the bonus changes. the days of store level managers receiving bonuses that are 25-50k are over and done with. the company will no longer continue to pay these outrageous bonuses.
store manager compensation could be moved into the 40-50k per year max realm, other retailers have that pay structure and it works. do not be surprised by anything you hear.

All SM's to be replaced by ASM's. That will be a wake up call.

eliminating store managers from a cost cutting standpoint has been discussed and analyzed for several years. a lot of people do not want to hear that fact, but there it is.
will the asm replace the sm, i dont know but it would make sense.
will the cl replace dm's, i dont know but it would make sense.

the get more with less theory has transformed a once good company into a place the majority of folks do not even want to be at anymore.

just to point out the obvious... but you 'can't' get rid of the store manager and have an assistant store manager........ you can move in to a one manager structure at the pay of the ASM but if there is no store manager then they cease to be an assistant...

Unless they are an assistant to the CL that will be in your store 1-2 days/ week.

As unpopular as it is and crazy as it sounds it may be happening. Somebody out in retail land came up with a multi-store manager concept and it looked great on paper like most bad ideas do and alot of retailers are running with it.
We are running pilot districts around the country,Wrong Aid is already switching over,and some small box retailers are going with it.
There will be a SM called in our world the CL.
Everyone should expect the worst and hope for the best because no matter what happens we can't control it. Just remember we always want change for the better,but the change we endure could always be worse so just smile and ask, "may I have Another." They like it when we are not happy so don't give them the satisfaction

True. Supposed to be one on one with the SM and employees too.

Personally, I don't think the compensation now will change, other than the bonus. The new bonus will probably have lofty goals that I don't think most people can attain, so the bonus will be smaller. As far as salary...I can see corporate saying 'hey, if you've been in your position for X years, then you're not getting any more raises'(as opposed to someone that hasn't been in that position for long.) That's just a guess.

As far as ASM...I think the pay will drop for that, but they'll have a 'new' bonus that will supposedly make up for it, but won't. Hours being cut, pay raises being given at corporate...I love the people I work with, but when you make things worse for the people that actually make you the $ it makes you seriously think about trying somewhere else...
