I quit yesterday after two weeks of advance notice, working through the middle of the current pay period, and I have nine vacation days remaining; how will I be paid for them?

If you have 1 week left on this pay period then the store should put you in for 5 vacation days this week. Then, for the next pay period, the store should put you in for 4 vacation days. I would communicate with the store just to make sure they're doing it.

According to Policy and Procedures, as long as you give at least 7 days notice you will get paid for your unused vacation days.

I put in my two weeks ago. I was told I could only cash in only 2 of my 10 vacation days because I haven't earned all 10 yet. They said I only get 10 paid vacation days expecting to work the entire year so they prorated them down to only 2 vacation days. Seemed like BS to me

They are correct. This policy change went into effect in February.

Also, I believe this new policy is only when you "voluntarily" leave the company.

A smart employee would have already taken their vacation days before giving a notice.

The previous policy was very generous. They closed the hole knowing that some people are going to leave as they tighten the screws on the stores. It's all part of the plan. Smart (above) is right!

Circle_the_bowl, not really, because I thought the reason you couldn't get any vacation is because you had to work a bit to earn it. The vacation we get after our first year is generated off the first year, so we've earned it. Unless I've got logic messed up.

Your benefits are only applicable after you have been with the company for a certain amount of time. You are not earning vacation days as you go through your probationary period. Vacation days do not start being earned until the next calendar year.

Walgreens is the most racist and the most liberal company i have workef for. They treat you like s&t i quit without notice. I was tired of everything.
I kmow i have 37.5 hrs of vacatiob I will lose but thats life

I'm actually suing the company for my unpaid vacation time. I've been in contact with the Attorney General of MA and they agree that we should be paid in full. I've opened the door for you, this is your chance to fight for it. I'll keep updating.

The policy changed some time ago in which if you voluntarily left the company, any vacation tie would be prorated. The memo was sent out to all Walgreens employees.
If you can sue for unused vacation time, How about getting paid for unused sick time?

No in MA the law only covers Vacation time.
