Now that Walgreens has thinned out Corp,Regional, and District staff its time to clean up the Stores. Lets get rid of all dead weight Exa's and Mgt's and once that is done we Can eliminate two thirds of the Store managers with ans estimated saving of $245,000,000 the first year. Not bad. That should keep the stock holders happy for a while.

you won't see them throwing out exa/asm or storemanagers positions. Walgreens paid way to much to train them. It would be silly not have someone accountable for the store. CLs WILL NEVER RUN 3-4 STORES. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Talk to Mgrs from Rite aid because they are already doing it there. As far a training look at all of the district staff that were eliminated and DM's who were forced to step down or out. The ASM will be acting in the store magrs role for less money so that means bottom line savings. They are cleaning house and making way for mgrs that will earn their pay. It's good business.

Although i may agree with a couple of your positions....quoting ANYTHING Rite Aid is doing is not considered "good business" too me....poor example.....however it IS a good example of what NOT to do.

The reason for the Rite Aid relate was not say it was a good idea, but to illistrate the possibility of it happening at Walgreens.

titles mean little when it comes down to it. The stores will still have a person in charge of day to day operations with one catch. They will be re-labeled ASM which means they will be payed less and expected to do more. Run the store, cover the shift, and try to get all the things done in the office without the time to do them. Success is in the eye of the beholder which in this case is corp. They are saving the company a ton of money which means bigger bonuses for them.

If we are wrong that's great for us,but if we are right life just got a lot tougher for all store level mgrs.

I'm worried for the EXA/future ASMs. Wouldn't they just demote the SM to the role of ASM if they did away with SM role? It's not like they'd fire them all. So what happens to EXA? Makes no sense to me.

The ASMs will be in place Mar/April of 2013 which will be long before they start getting rid of SMs. How they "get rid" of SMs is anyone's guess. EXAs with decent evaluations have probably the safest positions in the company.

Billy- Good point. Well it is a temporary relief I guess, but it kind of makes me scared to get promoted to a newbie SM some day!!:-/

Thats what the DM's thought four years ago. Before re-wire and we all know how that turned out.

Districts and market positions have to be eliminated to offset the loss with esi. I hate to say it but i cant wait for this deal to go thru and see people who have screwed eveyone over get theira now. There is no reason in my area theres 8 districts for 2 states wqsting that much payroll and expenses for nothing.
