I heard that any banked sicktime incurred over your career with walgreens is going to be null and voided come 2014.I heard that every will start with same set amount and you can use them like vacation or personnal days, has anyone else heard this or if its true?

Yes this is true. The word is out but there are still a lot of question marks and unknowns. One thing that I can tell you, make sure you bank some vacation days for 2014...trust me. Ask your store manager for details regarding why.
Oh, you are ALL now eligible to bank vacation, starting now.

I believe you were always able to ank at least a week, and why bank vacation for 2014 or do you mean sick days?

no, you had to have five years until this year to bank.

Like donnally said - only 5 year employees could bank vacation days.

Again...It is in everyone's best interest to bank some vacation for 2014.

One more thing - Personally, I am looking forward to PTO because I believe it will benefit me and also my store. Not trying to be cryptic here but I don't have all the answers and do not want to stir something up that I do not feel comfortable communicating about.

PTO will either be good or bad depending on how Walgreens and/or the store manager handles it. If they claim you can never call off sick because all PTO days have to be planned/scheduled then it's going to suck a huge one.

If they're reasonable about it and limit to XYZ days called off sick before requiring a doctor's note, then it's going to be fine.

Hopefully it's a happy medium that doesn't make you suffer because you actually got sick, but also helps control the people who insist on using up their sick days every year (half of which have them used up by March).

Then there is the issue of 'my kid is sick' and 'i have no one to watch my kid' type of ideas that will have to be figured out if you will for sure get paid for or not....

So many directions it can go in.

I've seen it in writing that PTO is earned based on hours earned. Is anyone aware if PTO accrual will be based on years worked? Will those with more years of service earn more PTO? If not, WTF?

This is my plan, I have 3 weeks vacation time, whatever that equals in hours, next year 2013. Im planning to use only one week of vacaion and try not to use anymore and bank my remaining 2 weeks for 2014, that way I have days I can use while earning my new PTO hours. That way you're not haveing to wait as long before you're able to take time off.

I thought they changed that where you can only have one week banked now, now matter how many years you've worked.

Why wouldnt you have 3 weeks (vacation ) of pto in 2014? I can understand sick time being erased, but not vacation hours earned for years of service

I'm like everyone else, I don't know all the details, all I know is the SM told me if I was five years, I'd be able to bank one week. They said they wearn't 100% sure what that meant either.
