The company I used to work for did the PTO thing...and if you worked your full five days during the holiday week, you would be given an additional PTO day as a comp day.

Now see I heard they were NOT taking away holiday pay.
They are not, as holiday pay is separate from pto

Basically, if you are like me, someone who gets 15 vacation days per year, you will get 20 now. So you lose 2 days compared to the old system.
The old system you got 15 vac days, 1 special holidy, and 6 sick days which means a total of 22 days you can take paid time off.
New system tranlates to 20 days. So its actually a great thing for people who dont call off all the damn time.
Single best thing wags has ever done. Penalize the slackers, and give more days off to those who deserve it!

Yes, this change definitely benefits the company ..... using your EARNED sick days before having to pay disability............that's WRONG.......you should have the option of using them or not,,,,,,,,,

That's the way it currently is! You use your sick time for the waiting period while your disability is processing.

I'm sorry Chicago. I wasn't really paying attention in the meeting and I threw the literature away. I basically came away with the same assessment as Comiskeybum. If you traditionally don't call off sick much, the new PTO program is a plus. Because you can take more days off without feeling guilty. However, if you are a sh*tbird that takes off every day you possibly can, then the new PTO program is probably a negative.
. Not really. Think about it. The people that have never called in sick are really getting screwed. All the banked sick days they have banked are gone now and can only be used if you go on disability. Nice way to reward the people who have never called in sick. If I were all of you I would use all you sick days before 2014. Otherwise those banked days will only be able to be used if you go on disabilty. Oh and by the way with the pto system you only get 3 sick days. Ans for store managers no more unlimited sick days. Again who is really getting screwed here.

Those who never take sick days win. They get an extra week off each year. I'll take that over losing my sick days any day. 3 extra PTO days plus two more.
. Correction. You get your normal vacation plus personal day minus 3 less sick days. You are loosing 3 days of pto.

those 4 extra pto days used to be 6 sick days. So no you are not gaing 4 days you are actually loosing 2 days of payed time off. You can call it pto or sick days it still meens 2 less days of time off.

I would rather have four days that I can with what I please than six days that I wouldn't use.

You must be one of those people who uses all 6 days each year. That's why you seem a little upset about the new rules. It's a very good move for those of us that never use our sick days.

I see your point in theory about rewarding people who call in sick; however, that is only assuming that you can actually get off. Don't you think this is going to make it harder for us to get time off too? At least as a pharmacist I think it will because either I HAVE to be at work or I HAVE to have a replacement and if we all try to get vacation days at the same time won't that make it harder for anyone to?

WRONG. I have same 8 years.. and am from Washington where it starts in 2013. Try each hour you work multiplied by 0.077- 23 paid days altogether before, now try nine HOURS PER MONTH (if at 30 hours like me, if not-max is 11 hours per month.)

Your math does not compute

30 hours a week x .077 equals 2.31 PTO Hours earned per week

2.31 Hours X 52 (WEEKS) equals 120.12 PTO hours per year

120.12 hours divided by 6(AVG hours per day) equals 20.02 days off per year. That is what ComsiskeyBum posted.
