Just leave

Guys, just leave Walgreens. I know for some it is financially hard, and it was also a big leap of faith for me but it paid off in the end. I quit in Aug.(was an assistant manager) when my husband got a job with AT&T and would be making more than me after commission. I tried staying home with our kid, but was bored, so I got hired on a veterans affair hospital which is a federal job. I'm an rx tech, making more than I made as a sr tech at Walgreens, work only m-f until 5:30 at the latest, can wear jeans, could sign up for insurance immediately, have enough techs for the workload, have great coworkers, and overall better environment.

If you are super unhappy with Walgreens, I understand- I was there too. But sometimes you just have to make a leap. Just wanted to encourage anyone who is going into work unhappy daily. I still read on here occasionally and I can see things aren't getting better.

Good luck!!

I was an over 20 year employee who also left in August and encourage everyone to do the same. My new job is M-F and my stress level went from a 10 to a 2. I HATE the way Walgreens is treating everyone. I also wish the best for everyone.....you deserve better. They (corporate) don't seem to care that these are peoples lives they are messing with. Good luck to all of you that decide to hang in there.

WagMgr some of us do not have the benefit of having someone else bringing home the bacon while we decide what we're going to do or take the time to find something else........

I, too, would encourage anybody that can find something better to go for it. That doesn't mean finding another job is easy, because it isn't. I am trying and looking every day......

I feel that things are not going to get any better with Walgreens. It's pretty bad when a store in another state hears about how bad things are at your store.........

I left myself after 8 years. I found a job in a retail industry completely different than most. 8 weeks out the year I work extra hours + half day on Saturday. Almost , every holiday is paid off. If the Holiday follows or proceeds a week end I get a extra day off between it. I do miss Walgreens. It is hard to just walk away from something you put 8 years of your life into.

Don't you work for a student bookstore? What is their plan when textbooks become obsolete?

u know walmart is opening new stores in chicago. i might try that.

to yep, a ten dollar an hour job is a 10 dollar an hour job. when colleges switch to another format for text books the stores will sell something else. dont u sell sushi?? and give pedicures eyebrow treatments.... really??

cvs corp creamed wag corp with better ideas. when cvs bought caremark we could have bought express scripts, we said no look wat happened

Yes it was hard to walk away after more than 20 years and also a little scarey. I wasn't totally confident about it but I am so glad I did. I do hope you find another store. You're stress level will calm and all the uncertainty and frustration calms too. My best wishes to you all.

Yes , I work for Follett. The plan is they will pay for my MBA and my PMP certifications. They are also offering me some IT certifications and classes. At first I will be a store manager, and then my plan and my trainers plan is to move me towards Project Management Jobs.

The first month or so seemed very hard to make such a change, but I think as I get into a solid work routine, develope new skills, learn new things each day at my new job, and the fact I now make $2.oo more an hour and dont have to clean restrooms!I wish that I had left as soon as I started at Walgreens.Dept.store BA'S do not clean restrooms, unload trucks, hang 40 million tags they are there to sell cosmetics!Tasking is very min.

There's another factor as well. Many Walgreens are in VERY small towns. And as we all know, in small towns, it definitely is not WHAT you know but WHO you know........that becomes a hindrance to anybody that's really qualified for a position......
