I've been with the company going on 3 years ( i work every dept except pharmacy) and with the changes that has been happening and more to come, i'm ready to find another job. I cant even get a 2nd job because of the time conflict with the cut in hours; im fulltime and its still not enough to live on my own. Plus i just dont feel that the company isnt for me anymore.

I had an interview with a call center today and i believe that im hired. The feeling is bittersweet because i want a better job that i think would fit me but then im gonna miss the employees and managers that i enjoy working with. But i have to think about myself and whats best for me.

After you get your new job, stop by wag and tell them how great your new job is. You'll probably get some old coworkers to jump ship.

I left wag 10 months ago, fired on a lie. Best thing that happened to me. Since I have been promoted and somehow get by without the store managers. Reading these posts and talking to friends who are still there reinforces there is no future for a job let alone a career at wag. Corporate is a sweatshop taskmaster, while districts are ran like high school cliques. Do whats best for you life is too short.

By the way you should change your moniker to jackie blue like the song from the ozark mountain daredevils.

I left 3 years ago. I started with the company in 2004 and enjoyed it in the beginning. Things were great s a Rxm Kevin Walgreen visited me twice and many great things happened during that time. Then things changed with corporate and the B.S. started. One of the key words that started in the meetings was hearing Shareholders mentioned before employees. I left Walgreens and got a great position out of retail. I keep contact with Walgreens employees and I just remember how things use to be and I feel sad.

I work at an independent. Takes some work, especially with the pharmacist surplus but if you try you can find a better position. Flexibility is the key.

All the independents are going under, glad you found one that works. Do you get good benefits?

none actually but I am also not going to have a heart attack next year. I guess now I get the same level of dental coverage as wag employees

After I left Walgreens my body went haywire for a good year. I went from a Walgreens Rph schedule (some nights only 5 hours of sleep due to the PM and AM shift the next day)to a 8-430 weekday only schedule. My doctor said it was basically due to leaving a high stress environment for 20 plus years and going to a non-stress one. So basically leaving Walgreens I am going to live longer.
