karma is a bitch...sad that so many of us suffer after years of hard work only to watch these corporate assholes get raises while they cut jobs and screw over loyal employees that are having everything taken away from them...SHAME ON THEM! Optimization my ARSE...this company really has gone to hell in a hand basket...

Oh yes Karma! Stores have been losing many leads. Working for 14.50 when many were making 20.00 or more an hour can change lives real fast.

Glad to see we are in such a state of emergency we can cut pay and hours and not give raises this year to mgts with riduculous pay caps, yet these corp a holes get a fat bonus and raise.
I myself dont worry anymore about shoplifters, controlling expenses, and increasing sales.
I have a huge work ethic but I'm not an idiot. Every store in the company is suffering with longer pharmacy wait times, skeleton crews and disgruntaled over worked and underpaid workers. In my district alone they can't find asm-t's that can even do the bookwork let alone the common sense aspect of managing. All the worthy exas have left. I've been asked by my manager and cl to apply for asmt this round but I'm too smart to d ig myself into working 60 hours away from my family for less then I was making last year. 8 years in management and all they've done is make me realize that you get what you pay for.
Hope the shareholders are happy, the money walgreens us saving now is goung to ruin them in 2014. I can now work at a bank without nights weekends and holidays, and make the same money. So long walgreens, you are now listed under walmart for companies to work for.

Wasson and his a holes don't give a rat's ass about its employees or there families. Employees need to jump ship find new work. Jobs are out tbere u just have to be aggressive and u will find a new job for a company that cares. I did and I am much happier.

It is time Wa$$on starts giving a rat 's ass. I ,for one , have had it with this ruthless company. That is why I'm attending meeting. Walgreens contests unemployment ,yet the CEO 's receive these outrageous salaries and bonus's?
It is time to hold Walgreens ACCOUNTABLE for their unsrupulous actions.

If you own stock in this company they sent you a form to fill out. The board reccommends that you vote a certain way, one is to give W a raise.
We went through the ballot and voted against their recommendation on every count. We voted no for each and every candidate they presented.
If you don't respond it is a yes vote for the board to do whatever it wants.
Read it and vote against them. Do it for those still enslaved and to shake them up.

diane, understand this: shareholders don't care about what you are spewing no matter how bad you spin things. why? because the stock is up. and if things actually start to affect profits and they start falling, they will sell their stock. you are not presenting an agenda that will go anywhere. if you have material or facts that can be used for a whistleblower case that would be your best move. you would make walgreens change and you would receive a monetary reward. I think the topix forum is like a "life support" system for you. Use all this energy for volunteer work or something worthwhile. lots of us who have worked at walgreens know this place sucks. we just get what we need done and get our checks and get on with our lives outside this place.

How long can Wasson artificially prop up the price of the stock. It cannot be that customers are flocking to Wags for their "deals" and the fun of standing in line for hours to get their scripts. Where and how is he keeping that stock price up there. Is there something fishy with the books?

I think most of it is cutting costs (i.e. screwing over the employees). If he only knew how to cut costs the correct way (get rid of office paper waste, eliminating excess inventory, less ad tags, higher efficiency throughout store operations, etc).
I'm sure a good chunk of it is also 'creative' bookkeeping. Not necessarily cooking the books, but moving things around and taking advantage of tax law loopholes. I also get the feeling that all of the money that customers donate through the pin pad is also used as a tax deduction by Walgreens.
