Travel distance for floaters

I was originally hired as an overnight RPN. After two years in that position my district did away with most overnight stores. I was dumped into the floater pool with no advanced notice. Now I find myself in a different store almost everyday with some being up to about 80 miles away. Yes, they do pay mileage for anything over 50 but it can make for a really long day to say the least after a 12 hour shift. It seems to me with all of the nickels and dimes WAG is trying to save it would only be common sense to put people in stores they don't have to pay for mileage.

When I floated the closest store I had to go was 2 miles away and the furthest was 45 miles. When the district split, I was drafted into a new district and the closest store was 17 miles and the furthest was 70 miles.

When I was offered my first store, I had to drive 55 miles to it. Eventually I was transferred to the closest store to my house in that district.

When I became a manager, I moved between a few stores but again fell victim to the district realignment. I could potentially be moved to a store 65 miles away. Eventually the districts merged and I moved closer to home now.

Oh by the way, I was never paid mileage.

It sucks you need to do it, but stick through it and eventually you will land home.

Since you are floating now, what ever they do not pay for mileage, keep a log of it and you may be able to deduct it from your taxes.

If you are traveling less than $50 worth, then you can be paid for mileage through store petty cash. You can also get paid for parking that way. The most I have to drive one way is about 80 miles. We have a few very distant stores in the market, and so, they try to rotate the floaters to these stores. I do have regular shifts at a store about 3 miles away.

Is this on-line anywhere? I a imagine there are other new floaters who would like to know. By the way, I heard that each store does some kind of report after a floater works there so you might want to be alert to that if it is true.

He has nothing else better to do except heckling me. That's OK. There are drugs to help with low self esteem these days.

If he had a clue, he would not be this forums simpleton.

Many PS want these reports so they can better evaluate district pharmacist. Many times people do not want to say anything bad about a floater. The reality is that there are some floaters out there nobody wants. Now, to help them change or to release them they need feed back. These forms are good to give feed back to the PS.

I remember a time 7 years ago the floaters we had were atrocious. It was hard to fire some of them.

On the flip side, certain floaters have been promoted to stores faster because of this feed back.

We have been told to be honest when we fill these out. I have only filled out a few reports and it was because of poor customer service and several issues with job function.

Yes, it is online on the travel information section of Storenet. It says clearly if <$50, you get the reimbursement at store level.

Travel distance for floaters generally depends on two factors:

1) the size of the log produced

2) the size of the bowl you're squeezing one out into

If you're going for mileage, I've found it best to eat massive quantities of fiber-rich foods. Trust me, this is going to be something you're gonna want to do if you're competing with your coworkers and taking bets ;)
