We moved her to the back of aisle 2 yesterday. Printed a movement report for every single item and stuck it behind the display. If the DM can explain how the worst moving endstand in the store deserves that spot, she'll go back. Until then, not a chance.

We've sold some off the end stand but I'd still consider it a dead end. The other day I had a young 20 something girl beg me for the stand up lol.

Oh my. I am a DM for a competive vendor that does not have to service Walgreens...thankfully, but has to push/force other stores to give up valuable space at this valuable time for the extra merchandising junk companies contracted to push this mess. She may sell songs on iTunes but tshirts, thank you cards, and CDs at Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Target...I feel our pain and brilliancy to move it elsewhere.

Would be funny if you ran another movement report in a few days to see if sales picked up back in cos, probably the best location for it really.

Ours was in cos initially but never sold. Now she's near RX, haha.

Wonder if our CL/DM is pushing it hard to be up front for us? It hasn't changed location for us yet. Nobody even stops and looks at it either...another bad sign.

Right next to our Taylor Swift end is a Hallmark End (half the normal height) that is filled with random stuff featuring One Direction. It's some boy band I've never heard of.
Why does Walgreens continuously invest in has-beens and second-rate acts? Remember when we had the Hannah Montana and Camp Rock junk that we eventually had to give away to get rid of? Why does Walgreens keep pulling the same stunt over and over?

My only guess is they are getting a hefty dollar for that space and essentially are free rolling sales based on call ins. Risk free profits with a small chance it catches on.

Remember that horrible Olivia Newton John ad and song that would blast after every other WAG-Radio tune? The horror! The HORROR! But... I'm sure they were paid graciously for the effort.

One Direction is extremely popular right now...definitely not a has-been. Taylor Swift is also hot, but only a very small percentage of our customers are going to actually wear her t-shirts or buy notebooks with her mug on them.

Don't forget: What corporate charges individual stores for merchandise is NOT what they paid for the merchandise. Corporate actually "sells" items to the stores at a higher price.

So, let's say corporate charged your store $3.49 for a poster that sells $5.99 or 2/$10. Well, corporate might very well have paid a Chinese company only $1 for the item. So, when you finally clearance that sucker out at 75% off for $1.50, your STORE "lost" about $2, but our company, on a corporate level, made .50.

This is also a way that corporate controls how much bonus money they have to pay out. If they are paying out too much bonus money, they can just adjust the cost of goods to your store.

I am not necessarily criticizing this system, only making a statement of fact.

The space is being paid for to be used for TS products so I think that makes up a bit if any profit is getting lost on the actual product. Which in this case I think they are losing out because the stuff just isn't moving........

I'm guessing One Direction is a teenie bopper thing, sorta like douchebag Bieber. Four or five years ago, I gave up on 99% of new music and almost exclusively listen to classic rock/pop now. Top 40 got to be unbearable for me about 10 years ago.
I finally sold a TS shirt yesterday. An older Oriental lady bought it, I'm guessing for her granddaughter.

I was looking at the sticker on the pharmacy counter promoting the "Happy and Healthy" magazine with Taylor Swift on the cover which replace the Balance Rewards promotion sticker.

I was looking at the picture of Taylor Swift in the striped boatneck tee and realized that this picture has been photoshopped. The neckline looks unnatural and from what I see on the picture of large cutout online, the bottom of the right sleeve does not cover the width of her arm just below the last dark stripe at the very bottom near the hip. This would not be the case with a regular top unless there was a slit at the edge of the sleeve. If there is a slit on the right sleeve, there should be a matching slit on the left sleeve. Not sure why the sleeves are bunched up unless it was intended to match the stripes on the bottom of the top with the stripes on the bottom of the sleeves.

The lighting on the face and the hair always looked a little strange to me. The texture and color of the hair above her shoulders didn't seem to match the hair below the shoulders. The arms always looked unnaturally stiff and the sleeves overly styled. I just couldn't figure out why until now.

I've sold out of the One Direction mini figures (they scare the hell out of me) and most of the books already. I sold a couple guitar picks from Taylor Swift. I don't listen to One Direction, but their stuff sells. I'd keep it up if I were you. I actually put the One Direction stuff where the Taylor Swift stuff used to be.

I haven't seen the 1D mini figures yet. They're probably on a riser or still in the backroom.
I don't have placement authority since I'm just a photo tech, but I'm sure it will stay where it's at for the time being.
I sold TWO TS phone covers, both to the same guy. I probably should have asked him 'why'.

1D is a boy band. They will always outsell 'junk' over a female artist.

That's just how it works with prepub teens and tweens.

We've practically sold out of 1D stuff. Sold out of the puzzle thingy and continuously selling the Colgate brushes.
