I love how the company is pro "being well and happy".
They dont give two shits about you or me lol.
This is just another company that finds EVERYONE who works for them to be replaceable by anyone with 2 hands, 2 feet and a brain.

I just found out I have to have a surgery that is VERY important to my heatlth. They told me I have to quit, have the surgery and then re-apply and hopefully get my job back.

Thanks walgreens for having my back :) I guess those employee of the months and constant praise from customers didnt mean jack.

Oh well. Moving on.

In case this IS a real thread and not a pot stirrer, check out the FMLA act. You can't be descriminated against or be terminated for a medical procedure. The whole thing should be posted near the time clock (it's required by labor law that it is posted, along with the other labor law stuff).

I'm sure obama's got you covered on a few different programs. Unemployment payments for 30 years plus some of that free healthcare should do you up just right.

If what is requiring surgery is vital to your HEALTH, like a back surgery or tumor removal, they are required by law to allow you FMLA. But, if you just WANT a nose job, face lift, boob job, etc... that is an elective surgery and it will depend on how good an employee you've been for them and how much they like you, as to whether or not they'll hold your job. If they are telling you to quit and then reapply, they must not love you all that much.

Someone had mentioned something about a sex-change operation. I'm not sure if that's what this is about, or not. But, same rules apply... You won't die, if your dinker doesn't get turned into a Vajayjay. Or vice versa... It's gonna depend on IF they like you.

So, really the blame does not lie with Walgreens, unless they want you to not have a malignant tumor removed to keep your job. If you want an elective and they won't hold your job for you, it's because you've been more of a liability than an asset.

Sorry, that's mho.

There are requirements to be eligible for FMLA beyond the type of procedure. If you are relatively new, or do not work many hours you may not qualify
