I sure hope so! Customers go ape-shit over these RR. Someone mentioned in another thread something about getting a card during the fall that would replace the RR program. I hope it's true.AND I hope it's actually effective.

Eventually they are going away after the loyalty card rolls out.

none of the XMAS groups list register rewards. They say 10k bonus points. So by Xmas we will see the loyalty cards. SM in my district are being told to not modify groups and trust the projections.

Do the projections include the loss of thousands of prescriptions at each store?

Loyalty program will be rolled out in August to employees and September to customers.

As for projections,my store is down about 25% in pharmacy but still has ran anywhere from 2-7% up each month for SS since we lost ESI.

From what I've read (my store manager's notes) the plan is for the loyalty card to be given to employees in August for the express purpose of getting them experienced on using them before the roll out to the general public in September.

Well, that idea does not suck. I am surprised.

funny we are calling it a "loyalty" card..haha..wason told his secretary Kermit to make sure they deleted that word from the walgreen dictionary and that corporate is banned from using the word in any communication or company program--i know it sounds ironic that employees must be loyal in respecting his demands--ok, ill go back to smoking my j

We've already gotten the cards in (I got a sneak peak of the box). Our computers aren't updated yet, so the "Rewards" button on the registers are still missing. Even If I wanted to activate my own card, I couldn't. Surprisingly, they're called Balance Rewards, with a strange figure eight (infinity) logo rather than the Walgreens logo. Maybe this is to connect with partners like Duane Reade?

And yes, GREAT thing RR's are leaving. I can't tell you how many problems I've had with people trying to take advantage of it. No more separating a transaction 5 times, or RR's not printing because people already used an RR. The card is going to come with its own set of problems, but at least it's more convenient for us and the customers.(shorter lines now, thanks to less confusion).

I, too, couldn't be more thrilled Register Rewards are going away! Sick of people taking advantage of it and getting cussed out because they don't get another RR when they use and RR on the same product!

Damn TLC to hell for ever airing EXTREME COUPONING!!!!!!!!

I'm at a pilot store that uses the new add tags and Rewards Card.

Though the Rewards Card can only be used by employee's only at this point, and other Walgreens store employees near us will walk in and have a look at how its done.

So far it doesn't look like it generates any points yet as its just so that we can practice on each-other. But in the event we do get points, by policy we are not allowed to use them until the card is officially released to the customers.

Since you're in a pilot store maybe you can answer this question. Can you scan the card at any time during the transaction (before payment) for it to work? The PPL only showed the card being scanned or the customer putting in their phone number before anything was scanned.

I'm sad. Soon I won't be able to get a case of Corona and a Snickers bar, and use a $5 RR to pay for them.

Screw the 'ineligible' category, and competent computers.

You can scan the card anytime, just like the AARP card or PSC card.
There's also a function to make the card recognize you as an employee, so you scan the card instead of carrying a paycheck stub around. That function really does work. Also, you get 500 points for every purchase over $5 until the official launch date of 9/15.

If they dont change the wording in our ads and on the actual "sale" ad tags to announce the sale price as a Balance rewards "member only" sale price instead of just a sale price the customers are going to be livid at the register.

Its also inexplicable that stores aren't allowed to install keyboards at the front register to save critical time in signing the customers up.

IMO the program is a good program but as usual the implementation will be much more difficult than it needs to be.

Store Ops is clueless whenever it comes to real world procedure at the store level.

ROFL I forgot how inept they are in not putting usb keyboards. You can actually install almost any usb keyboard to the new systems, feel free to have your SM break the rules if you don't want to have a nightmare on your hands.

You can also use the PS/2 plug (purple) type but you'll have to do a reboot of the register for it to recognize the new hardware. My advice on the USB keyboard is to plug it into the back of the register (several USB outlets in the back). That way you don't have your leg rubbing up against the front USB outlet and bending the outlet itself.

Watch "In the Loop" on Compass. Register rewards are mentioned for ads in October.
