We have an "unwritten" policy in the Perrysburg warehouse of putting all loose sku's in a tote, slapping any random label on it, to any aisle, of any store, and shipping it out. I have addressed this issue with my current DCM and he feels it is the most "cost effective" way to handle them. Totes that are returned to our warehouse with items already in them, be it shelving parts, product, scanners, store scissors, etc... are treated the same way. You leave whats in it, in it, and pick to the tote as if were empty. This is not cost effective for the warehouse or the store . Please help.

Actually I think it would be cost effective for the warehouse. Don't spend labor hours dealing with the stuff. As far as the store is concerned it probably isn't cost effective.

It's stuff like that which causes overstock issues for the stores. It's incredible how much randomness (and sometimes expired) product that we absolutely receive that don't need. And I keep getting totes that have smashed cereal boxes underneath 20 dented soup cans, and other totes that have soap bottles with the lids unscrewed. I think alot of the people at the Flagstaff warehouse are uncapable of any common sense.

Yeah. I guess the tax benefits wags gets from that outweighs the losses in damaged product EVERY store receives EVERY week.
I have to say, though, that there are a few totes every week that are packed immacuately, so at least one person has awesome organizational skills and takes pride in their work. Too bad there can't be special totes for liquids so thetops of soap or cleaners don't come undone.
