I am very surprised that Pharmacists do not have a lower position much like a a NP is to a DR. I am sure as things modernize this will come to be.

This is a foreign pharmacy grad. No one hires them because there are plenty of domestic grads. He/she cannot work as a pharmacist. He has to complete an internship before being licensed. No one wants to deal with a foreign grad intern anymore. I have heard it is nearly impossible for them to complete the internship requirements.

I remember one pharmacist I worked with who said that at some point he thought there would be a PharmD person working in the pharmacy and this person would do the work of a tech and some of the pharmacist work while the pharmacist would be helping people with over the counter products and counseling.

I would suggest that anyone contemplating pharmacy school do one of two things: don't do it or if you do, go on to do a residency and specialize, research, etc. Avoid retail because a retail pharmacist will cease to exist in 10 years...mark my word

Except...you're wrong. Retail pharmacists will not go away and the market for pharmacists will grow again. If you were to say that retail chains like Walgreens, CVS and RiteAide might be gone in 10 years then I might agree with you. I could see the market pushing these chains out of business because they use pharmacy to drive the company. But there will still be the Walmarts, Targets and grocery store chains that will survive that.
The reason for the pharmacist surplus is the economy. They kept building more new pharmacy schools because of the baby boomers aging and going towards retirement. Because of the economy lots of people have held off on retirement and that includes pharmacists too. So you have pharmacists holding out for a few more years and less demand because customers are doing the same thing. Once the economy picks up again, the demand will go right back up. Pharmacy is still a good job to go into and hopefully the job surplus will scare off some of the people who going into it just for the big paycheck.
