Everyone seems to be on different pages as to just what will be in the job description. What will you be doing and what will no longer be done by you? Does anyone have the actual job description yet?

Everything you currently do minus coaching or writting up employees thats how my SM described it.

I am currently an STL and plan on taking the SFL position when it becomes available. I was told by my manager that the pay would be $11.50 an hour. He said the only thing I would be doing that I don't already do is closing 2-3 times per week. I have done it in the past when coworkers were on vacation. At least in my store there won't be a lot of change in my job duties.

That coincides with what I know too, although I believe SFL's will be more hands on with SIMS duties than MGT's are. STL's that step up will likely be taking on more paperwork than they do now.
Sort of a mashing together of both positions.

Yep, that's just about right and because of that, they think they're justified at lowering the wage by at least $4. Quite frankly the one thing I enjoy the most as an MGT is the coaching aspect.

I accepted the SFL position and was told my pay raise would go into effect as of the next pay period. I will still be closing mostly one night a week and occasionally 2 but no more. I also have to learn the pharmacy which I didn't have to do as an STL.Other than that everything is the same. BTW, I have a really awesome SM.

I was an STL and was told that I was "promoted" to the SFL position. I am told now that I will be doing the scan-outs overnight and the smart count. With cleaning the bathrooms, breakrooms, stockrooms, 1506, stocking, cash report, and counting down the drawers, I will be busy all night. Not counting straighting the store and leading my "team" making sure they do their part. I have to print the ad tags and mega savers, divide them amoung the three of us to put them out. Clip strips, dusting. There's never enough time. Some of our overnight help falls asleep and some are very slow. My store is a 24 hour crime ridden store that's not only busy, but everything is locked up. I spend so much time answering calls to open the bodywash, deodorant, shaving blades, baby milk, condoms, electronics, heart-burn meds, elastics, some face creams, even the candles are locked up. We used to have the toothpaste locked up, but DM made us open it again, but some of the expensive toothbrushes are locked up. I don't know what I'm getting into. I'm a neat freak and like a neat store, but my complaints have gone unheard until now. I am told now that I can make a difference, but with what? There's always food and drinks left at stations, and stuff that don't belong there. Cosmetics is a shamble, and photo a mess. Always returns left behind for someone else to put up. Sorry for the long post. I needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for reading.

You won't even dent the problem. You have no authority what so ever. Even a assistant without ye backing have the sm will have a hard time fixing those problems.

It's ridiculous. The SFL will have no authority, but we can get in trouble for not listening to them...when the ASM punishes us later after reading the piece of paper that the SFL left for him.

SFL's are now older siblings, tattling to Daddy ASM when you don't behave.

People falling asleep?! Goodness, if I see that they would be out the door. Ad tags are pretty easy though. I enjoy doing them myself bc I don't like the way others put them up.

Are there any overniters out there who are planning on staying overnites, but are lying and saying that they want to go back to days? I talked to another O/N and they said they asked for days, but when the time comes they are going to change their mind and say they want to stay where they are at. My manager never gave me this option, but the other guy said this idea was his manager's. Do you think there will be any repurcussions for this. He's doing this to keep his pay as long as possible.

From what I understand, he CAN'T change his mind, because the overnight position will be filled by an SFL, from another store, if necessary.

If he wants to keep his pay, then he can stay overnight until the time comes for him to get moved to another store himself.

That was my plan, but now I'm getting scared that our DM is gonna screw me over. So I'm more than likely going to tell my SM to tell my DM that I decided to stay on nights

Honestly, I just don't see a DM falling for this. I thought I read somewhere saying that people can't do that but now I can't find that section. I can totally see a DM messing with an O/N mgt just to make an example of them.
