I remember when I worked for Walgreens, all the corporate Goons would put down Walmart and the others since they did not have a family atmosphere and did not care about their employees. I actually believed and saw this in our stores. Everybody worked together to achieve a common goal, be it store success, growth in sales, exceeding customer service, etc. However since the economy started drifting into the toilet, it appears that this kind of thinking has gone down the drain. Now hour cuts, lay offs, reorganizational terminations are the norm. It would appear that Walgreens now only cares about the stockholders and lining their CEO's pockets. I remember my DM told us at a meeting: "Your employees are your number #1 priority, customers are number #2, and the stockholders are well, don't even consider them" Whatever happened to this mentality?

Wal-Mart dosen't try and cram (upsale)the their customers as they are trying to check out. It's sickening to listen to the clerks try and get enough suggestive sells in for the day so they don't have to here the next day why can't they sell more.If Walgreen's wanted "sales people" then they should hire "sells people" and pay them more to sale. |
