I just got off working a weekend shift with no tech . Is it too much to ask for a lunch break ? Every time I bring this up corp tells me because I am salary I don't get a lunch break. Strange .... store managers are salary and they get to sit down and have lunch without having customers watching u chew.

Well if you guys didn't preach so much about how you care soooooooo much about the patient. The patient that is tweeking out for more pain pills, maybe you would get a lunch, so yeah actually it is too much to ask.$100,000 a year jobs should never get a lunch...earn y our money and stop whining....i know plenty of MGT that never get lunches and get paid waaaaay less then your whiny arse!

Yep. No lunch. But our so called leaders (supervisors and sm) sure take their lunches. Hypocritical?

I understand that their is no RPh overlap on Saturday and Sunday in a non-24 hour store, but during the week the pharmacists won't work so that each gets a break.Day shift wants to leave early and night shift wants to come in late, resulting in almost no overlap.Do you hate your job and are so desperate to leave that you won't take a lunch break? Even medical doctors take lunch breaks.Do any pharmacists in the company actually work their assigned 40 hours, because it seems like most don't?

2 things it is a double whammy for you.

1. You are Salary.
2. You are a Medical professional, and therefor exempt from most state/federal work laws. 90% of states.

That being said I don't agree with it.

Sounds like someone has some serious jealousy issues. You can get counseling for that.

If you check with employee relations, they will tell you that a sign can be posted saying that "a pharmacist is not on duty" and you can leave the pharmacy for 30 minutes for a unpaid lunch break. This is common practice in Walgreen stores in Chicago, where there are unions, and also with our competitors.

Third shift RPh for 14 years. I loved it when a customer would say, "Wow you sure are lucky to get to eat while you work." Yep, I sure am. Get to grab a bite of something cold while I operate the entire department by myself.

Just throwing it out there that as an MGT I haven't had a full lunch with out having to answer a call or deal with a customer in over a year. You guys aren't the only ones who get the short end. Eating while running a whole department and eating cold? Try running a whole store and grabbing bites between running to customers, vendors, employees, and RX IC3s. Or my personal favorite (sarcasm) not eating at all on a 10 hour shift.

Not angry at all....just tired of people who are overpaid, bitching so much when guys like KMGT above us said it so well. You have MGT's and EXA's who make much less, work harder and longer hours and on top deal with Pharmacy as well.....yet the most complaining seems to come from Pharmacy......just putting reality in perspective for you.

If it's easier and you are capable of running a pharmacy then you should do it. Oh wait, you couldn't.
