<quoted text> all you really have to do is look at the floor plan for the boots alliance and you will see there are not store managers there and that's were we are going
Where do you find the floor plan?

What is funny is this...no matter what title you give to an employee, whoever is the highest ranked at that particuliar store is really technically the STORE MANAGER....So this is really stupid in all actuality.

Technically the highest rank is the store manager but that position will cease to exist pretty soon. Store managers be prepared to take a serious paycut by being forced to be a ASM or be let go with no right to any benefits(since they technically offered you a position with serious paycut). No one person is safe at Walgreens they are just letting store managers do the dirty work and then get rid of them as soon as their plan is ready for the next phase. Funny how they have been coy about letting the store managers and EXAs know about their salary beyond March of 2013. Very vague on the details. Notice how they been cutting hours in the pharmacy in December. The front end hours been cut also and now they have go help the pharmacy. SO SAD!!!!!

I see the employee structure at store level headed to that of Boots' structure. The SM is required to work 7 days a week with the ASM working alternate shifts with the SM. SFLs will be the "workers". The only department head will be cos with either eliminating photo all together or having an SFL work photo when needed, meaning the SFL won't just be in photo but on an as needed basis.

If you take time and look at where Wag is headed and compare that to how Boots is running now, its pretty obvious what Wag is headed toward a Boots employee structure. The titles of employees at Boots maybe different than that of Wag but I see the structure becoming the same.

I also found that Boots starting pay for the SM is between $36-37,000 per year. Just as Wag is replacing MGTs with the SFL at lower pay, they will slowly start replacing EXA/ASM and SM positions with people taking the job for less pay.
You will never get store managers to work 7 days.

Looks like Boots does use the pharmacist to run the entire store

Some boots stores and run by a pharmacist and some are run by a store manager.I dont know how they decide this from store to store. The store managers do NOT work 7 days a week. They must be available 7 days a week though,so no guaranteed Sunday off.

If you look deeper, you will see it is a 37 1/2 hour week only for the store manager. That is not really surprising though. Most Countries have a shorter work week then we do in the good old USA.

Intelligent hard-working people always end up on top. No matter whether it's Walgreens, Walmart or another company. Jobs, companies, and employees come and go, it's the way of capitalism. There's no point in becoming emotionally attached to Walgreens or any other company. It's strictly business. I try to do a good job for Walgreens, but I'm no fool. Everything I have at work can be tossed in a bag in 60 seconds and I can take my skills to the next employer.

Your first sentence is 100% WRONG! If that were the case, things would be much more different.

People succeed in LIFE for that reason. That's the way it always has been and always will be. Nobody has a problem with that, until they work at a job where they can't navigate the politics and only then do they have a problem with it.

And that is THE problem. Having to navigate thru politics because of someones ego rather then getting ahead with hard work and determination is sickening.

It doesn't matter whether its called a sm. Or asm. What wag is doing is lowering the pay scale. So eliminating the sm position is just a cover up to basically lowering the pay rate to the person who will be running the store.

1000% correct... That's THE problem now more than ever at WAG. There were always some people that got promoted because of thisin the past, but now it seems like that is the only determining factor.

Complaining about politics in employment is useless. It's as ingrained in human nature as procreation. Accept that it exists and navigate through it. Determine who can get you promoted and do what they want. Determine who the next best person is in your store/district, who is also trying to get promoted, and be better than them. It took me 10 months as MGT and 10 months as EXA to get promoted to MGR and I've turned down Group leader/CL multiple times. Getting promoted is gravy in this company for anyone of average intelligence. Heck, I've had a tougher time scratching an itch on my balls.
