This article should've addressed the benefits and technical specs of "3-D HDTV" besides merely pointing out the 'fact' that it's amazing.

Trust me. The older you get, the more you accept life's imperfections. So happy surfing.

"...whereas U.S. cable and phone operations tend to use optical fiber."

Huh?
While those operations are investigating fiber and conducting regional roll-outs, the tendency is to rely on aging infrastructure and continue to charge consumers more than they should.

The communications don't need the extra income. They are pretty much gouging us now, and it will stay the same while quality deteriorates.

Also, to say 3-D HDTV is ready is misleading. The technology is available, however no one is broadcasting it. So, as a point-to-point conferencing solution that might be neat - but do you really need someone at work pointing a pen at you at home in 3-D??? Interesting tech, no current reasonable application.

to huh?:
while you don't see the fiber, it's there. It's just getting it from the telco buildings into the subscribers.

Nowadays it's hard to discern plain old telephone service traffic from internet traffic outbound from the local office.

Or hadn't you noticed that long distance sounds like next door?

And this is so even though my dislike of money gouging at&t and ESPECIALLY comcast is huge.
