They claim to be making cuts due to the recession. This recession started long before that hope and change came along. And anyone that expected a turn around overnight is an idiot. The fact is, Verizon is still making a profit, cutting 8000 jobs to keep up the profit margin, not due to losses. 8000 jobs equals better CEO pay and bonuses.

Read above moron. Sure, America is losing jobs, but at a slower pace than 6 months ago. The Dow Jones is UP for the year. Up 10% since January 20 2009 and up almost 45% from it's low in March. Banks are actually reporting profits this year.
So jobs are not going down quicker, it's actually slower. No person with common sense expected change over night and nobody promised it overnight either.

This is 'Murika... we don't care if we make $3 billion in profits, that's not enough.. so we shit on those that helped make those profits now that we don't need them to build for us.. we don't show employees any loyalty, we only use them as a disposable consumable commodity..

The drive for profits is driving humans over a cliff. We need to rethink this greed and profit motive or we're screwed.

I don't care about 2 companies. They may be losing more today than 6 months ago. But on a national scale, which is what Obama deals with. Jobs are being lost at a slower pace than 6 months even 12 months ago. It's a fact. I know you may hate facts that prove you wrong. But it's a fact. January had 598,000 job losses, February 637,000 job losses. June, the last month reported 467,000. Sure that's high, but it's about 25% lower than January or February. That's the fact jack.

I didn't say unemployment was going down. I said job losses were slowing, and the statistics prove that. Most experts claimed that unemployment would hit 10-12% before we see a turnaround. This trend didn't start under Obama, and god himself couldn't turn it around overnight. Many experts expect this to continue for up to two years.
This isn't even a national recession, this is global and there's nothing Obama has done to create it. Face it. This started years ago and Obama was given the job to do something about it.
If the GOP had a better plan they certainly haven't voiced it. They are the party of no. No ideas, no to any ideas by the democrats, no plan for recovery.
Prove me wrong. Show me the plan the GOP had to fix things.

what we were told at work is theyre going to be laying off clerks which are basically secretaries but they will offer packages first to see if anyone takes them before they actually lay off people. how scary what is this workd coming to. i lose my job i lose my house and how will i feed my kids. go from making 70000 a yr to nothing..
