Cool. It's the least they could do considering the mountains are providing them their fortune.

Interesting. Why is the Fish Canyon on TRIAL? And are they suing or being sued?

Sorry, couldn't resist the glaring typo in the main header :)

Gee, I thought spoons were supposed to be dull. From your posts on some of the other topics, you are very sharp. I am so glad that Vulcan is using access for the public to Fish Canyon Falls as positive PR. I am still confused as to how a company can own a part of a mountain that is a main viewpoint for most of the San Gabriel Valley. Strip mining our beautiful San Gabriel Valley Foothills to get common rock is something we might want consider allowing a halt to. See everyone up there on Saturday November 13th.

Not "common" rock, Bruce. San Gabriel aggregate is much better quality. Much harder rock.

No, let's close that dunghole, arrest and indict their Republican criminal leaders, then seize the place to sell off its assets and use the funds to clean up those Republican dungers' mess.

Yes and it will make the asphalt so much more shiny. Aren't you glad they feel that that is reason enough to poison our children?

This "special rock" is crushed and used to make gravel. It is also used in larger form to make breakers for the beach. Why there is a need to destroy the mountain so close to families and within view of so many people eludes me. I stand by my public statement that this debacle was initiated by crooks in 1956 and allowed to continue by cowards in 1988. If those people that made the last horrible decision to allow this destruction to continue made it because they were worried that fighting Azusa Rock in court might be expensive, just look at what kicking down the road will cost us now. I do not care what the costs are, strip mining our mountain is wrong and I just hope that someone with more clout than I have has the courage to step forward and stop this travesty once and for all. Many people here remember the false empty promises of ongoing reclamation that were made in 1988. Vulcan bought the property in 1999 and along with it the promises of reclamation. Vulcan has not made one single reclamation step in all of those eleven years. Now they want 80 more acres in order to even begin to initiate an unproven theory/fantasy reclamation called "micro-benching". Show me one damned mountain in the whole world that has ever been reclaimed, there are none. People, vote "NO" on measure A and let's begin the healing.

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents can all agree that our beautiful San Gabriel Mountains is no place for a strip mining operation. If we all get together, we can be like the US Marines and do the impossible, even if it take a little longer.
