Mid December, 2011 Martin Marietta Materials Inc. launched a $4.8 billion hostile takeover bid for Vulcan, with local operations in Azusa and Irwindale.
In a letter to Vulcan Chairman and CEO Donald James, Martin Marietta Chairman and CEO C. Howard Nye said his company was taking its offer directly to Vulcan shareholders.
Vulcan share values have fallen, again.
