Privatization of water led to higher bills

Privatization means higher bills because the companies that buy the contracts are in the business of making money. The government gets a short term payment to fill their coffers and the taxpayer gets screwed with higher fees for worse service.

This is why privitization is neither inventive or bold. Selling public assets for profit will lead to cuts in service or higher prices so that the business can maximize profitability. Of course the one thing it does well is remove responsiblity of the problems from the government, which more often than not, I think is the reason for much privitization.
