Connecticut continues to experience its recession. The longer we go with a Republican governor, the longer we will continue to have businesses move out of state, and lose those jobs. Connecticut has lost as many jobs and continued to escalate in unemployment since 2000.
Without taking into account the problems with continued economic stress growth, we will continue to fantasize about where we really are.

Then why doesn't the Democratic legislature (which is truly to blame for this disaster of a state), which has a super majority, take any action to reverse current trends and bring business in? Because it's the anti-business radical liberal democrats running the show in this state, and they continue to do so because they have naive people like you completely fooled.

"industries such as gambling"

Isn't this a great way to build job stability on the backs of low income senior citizens and minorities.

I would rather bet on whether the ground hog will see his shadow then gamble it away where the odds are all against me.

Don't you just love the economic wisdom the Democrat losers espouse?
Jobs are created and lost largely dependent upon the business climate in the respective states. Have any of you Dems noticed that the fastest growing states in the nation are those in the South and West where business doesn't face the onerous workers' compensation insurance ripoffs and tax rates businesses have to contend with here in the Northeast and in the Midwest?
Have you also noticed that it's difficult (uh, make that impossible)for a Republican Governor to override bills (and budgets) when they are passed by legislatures with veto-proof majorities? Take Massachusetts, for example, with 5 Republican Senators and 35 Democrats, and 19 Republican Representatives and 141 Democrats. Have you noticed the robust job growth in Massachusetts? I thought not!
Wake up to the fact that jobs are created by growing businesses and those types of businesses began to flee the Northeast and Midwest over 50 years ago when the political climate changed. Trouble is, it's still the same climate and getting worse.
Government jobs and "programs" to help those who don't want to help themselves keep growing though, don't they?

Funny how at the start of every recession there is a republican in the white house. Republican=Recession.
Yeah - the Republican inherits the mess left by the Democrat. then after several years of Republican rule, things get better.(You have to have a Republican state legislature, which CT doesn't have, to make it better.) Then after the Republican makes things better, people start wanting change. They elect a Democrat who inherits the good economy left by the Republican, and flasely claims it as his. Then once all the Democratic spending gets too much, the Dem is voted out and the Republican inherits the mess the Dem created which starts oozing puss and job losses.

Manufacturing jobs continue to move out of CT and go down south or overseas. The jobs that take the place of high paying manufacturing jobs are service jobs paying around $9.00 an hour.

Unfortunatley, the Unions helped make that happen by being greedy, thereby creating a false economy (overpriced houses, food, etc.)

It's getting to where the only people who can afford to live in CT are the rich and famoous (think Paul Newman)

I moved down south to North Carolina about 4 years ago and while the job market isn't much better the cost of living is lower and the winters are easier to deal with (no snow.)

Democrats cause recessions when they steal too much money from the people who have jobs only to give it away to the people who don't want jobs just to get votes.

"Not your Uncle's Recession In Connecticut"

My uncle hasn't had a decent job since he trained to design nuclear power plants just before Three Mile Island.

The economy may be growing, but an increasing proportion of that money is going to the top 1% rather than the other 99%. One of the reasons is people are spending more on energy (all that money goes to Exxon or to Venezuela) and shopping at chain stores like WalMart (all that money goes to China) instead of locally. It certainly doesn't stay in our pockets. Obviously, we're all going to pay the price down the road. We're currently about $9,000,000,000,000 in debt or more and that number will just rise until we all have a wake-up call.

As we speak, all of our real assets (manufacturing capital, valuable real estate in city centers, etc) are being sold off to the Chinese, Middle East and Europeans. You may think American companies are buying our real estate, because they are on paper, but the actual buyers behind the corporate patina are living in other countries.

Except for the top 1%, we are going to be left with nothing.
