Do any of these guys worry at all about the prices of gasoline, milk and bread, childcare, health care, or the cost of a child's university education. NO! Greedy B****rds and ill and evil unto the various boards of directors who allow this to happen.

Boy, it'd sure be nice if the bigwigs shared the wealth a little with the tens of thousands of people whose hard work earned them those big bonuses. We average about 3% a year pay increase (IF you "earn" it) and that sometimes doesn't even keep up with inflation/cost of living increases. Forget about bonuses unless you've maxed out your pay grade.

It's sickening to see what CEOs are taking in.
The disparity between the pay of upper management and the other hardworking employees of a company is the single most important threat to our democracy.

The men are paid for what they contribute to the company. Very fair compensation. The dreamers need to have a skill to offer. The jealous bloggers are just that. Nothing outrageous about being compensated for your skills. Ask any doctor, lawyer, or other highly skilled person. Look at the Chinese billion dollar club member who five years ago shined shoes.

In light of the fact that many major league sports players in baseball and basketball can earn in the 100-200 million range this compensation package is a mere pitance.

Jealousy and envy are as morally wrong as greed and avarice. They're also more insipid, because those who are bloated with jealousy and envy cloak their comments in righteous indignation. Grow up, shut up and work hard. Maybe someday you'll be able to earn a living and be grateful for what you have without needing to cast dispersions on others for the gifts--and responsibilities commensurate-- with such gifts.

OK - What is the news here? Are we supposed to shake our heads in amazement? Grab pitchforks and storm the office? Applaud as they do on game shows? Did the man earn the money? Did he keep the company afloat while others tried to over-regulate UTC out of business, or provide no service other than shake their finger at him ordering he do more social work. BTW, does everyone at the Courant make the same money? How much did the top NBA basketball players make last year - it better have been the same as the person who cleans his toilet and the person who cooks him his food. If not, you have your next story.

Do you have the same contempt for politicians (some Democrats) who charge a quarter million dollars for a one-hour speech, plus expenses.

Why do folks get upset at the what the pay stubs that corporate biz biggies such as George David and his UTC management team reveal. Envy? Yes, in a way. But their anger is probably more fueled at the frustration they feel from realizing that lives spent as couch potatoes watching the Moron Box has no reward. George David and his mates are an ambititous, intelligent crew and those kind of people reap the rewards. They set the bar high and have the grit to get over that obstacle.

It makes it even more disgusting when you ask your employees to help with the ground work around the building. Then you see what the big guys make and they can't afford to hire a grounds keeper? Give me a break. And by the way, the ballplayers do make too much money also. The prices to see a game, are outrageous as well. If these people could use some of their money on those who really need it, I would have more respect for them. Can we forget Leona Helmsley left all of her money to her one dog, but didn't bother with the three grandchildren at all and never did after her son died. I guess she was the only one who would admit, that we were the "little people". Bah, humbug to the greedy ones.

All you morons coming on here and making comments defending this kind of disgusting CEO Greed are probably also making 6+ figures a year! You don't understand what it's like to have to work 2+ jobs just to feed your family and put a roof over their heads. You have no concept of what it means to have to tell your children that you can't go to their play, sporting event, or even parent teacher conference because you have to put on your second uniform and head out to your second job to be able to take care of them! If the tables were turned on you and you changed places with me then I think your opinion about Mr. David's greed would change....
