They will pump the same amount of oil except they will just set it off to the side and watch the price go up for "available supplies" just the same as if prices went up if there was an actual shortage.

Can't they just bypass "creating" a shortage and just charge more per barrel and get it over with?

Why all the BS?

Opec can go F themselves. Once the US gets its ass in gear for cleaner, more efficient energy the rest of the world will follow except for those crappy 3rd world countries that don't matter anyway. Then OPEC will lose their power and money. Then what will they have. NOTHING...except Duba So let them have fun from now b/c their regime won't last forever.

Unfortunately the US is the number 1 user of Oil in the world. You guys guzzle that stuff for your SUV's. Nothing is going to change that an thats why your administration keeps invading countries with Oil. Everyone keeps talking about cleaner energy and thats just what it is cheap talk. There is no alternative to fuel and thats a fact. Ethanol is produced at the cost of food crops, hydrogen uses more electricity and is inefficient, electric motors rely on Coal or nuclear power stations plus they are only good for about 60 miles. So you guys arte totally dependant on the black stuff no matter what these vote buying politicians say. OPEC can do what ever it wants to produce higher profits and thats exactly what big business does anyway. If Americans were serious about Oil imports they would all be driving mini hondas but I cant see that day coming can you??? 8)

In a way that's what happened, but OPEC & oil speculators became to greedy and helped tip the world into a downturn.
